Hair Help!?

ok so i said it before, but umm.. NOBUDDY ANSWERED,

kk i KNOW you can curl your hair with a straightener, cause i can...but i was wondering if you could tell me if you know how to do it with a flat iron like miley cyrus does in season like in the episode Song Sung Bad, or when ';Hannah Montana'; wears the ';Miley Stewart'; wig in When you Wish Upon a Star.... i also have a curling iron, but it doesn't work great....i have medium length hair....probably past my shoulder by 1-2 inches, and its really thick...tell me with really ';thru'; steps and if its better to start with straight or natural hair!!!

this is so greaty appreciated!!! luv ya 鈾?br>

o and no rude comments about miley, i luv her hair THATS IT!!!Hair Help!?
If you have a heat setting, make sure its up pretty high, but not high enough to burn hair.

1. Turn on the curling iron or curling irons that you plan to use.

2. While the curling irons are warming up, separate your hair into three sections by pulling two sections to each side of your face leaving the third section to be the back.

3. Clip up two of the sections, leaving one down. Curl the first section, starting toward the back of your head and working your way to the front. When you put your hair in the curling iron it should look like a spring that is coiled around the curling iron. If you have two different sizes of curling irons use the larger one to curl the bottom layer of your hair and the smaller one to curl the top.

4. Spray that section with your hairspray and gently clip it away from the...REST AT THE SOURCE!

How would you get your hair like this (pic)?

I have fine, straight shoulder length hair. My bangs are grown out and parted off to the sides. I don't have to do anything to straighten it so I just wear it down without curling or hair product most of the time. But it's kind of a boring look and I want to try to style my hair. I've never really used a curling iron, diffusers, root lifter or gel before.

Could you tell me step by step how you would do your hair like the picture below? I've got a pretty good idea how to get the curls by wrapping the hair around the barrel of a curling iron. But I don't know when in what step I'd add any hair product. Whenever I tried to style my hair before, I've had problems getting volume on the crown of my hair.

(My hair's similar to this in length and with the long bangs. I'm not sure how to get the nice little ';arch'; volume on the bangs. My just go flat against my forehead).

start with natural hair

start with the iron at the end of your hair and curl it up like you would a curling iron.

this should work i have seen my freind do it.

I have natural curly hair

but i think this should work and if not use a curling iron.

I
well when you us a curling iron hold your hair and wait till it gets hot then let it go and douce it in har spray after it dries brush the clumps out.

Miley Cyrus is the next Britney Spears

PSYCO

you twist it when u use a straightner, like

when u get to the end curve it

Question about hair damage and questions about hair donation.?

So I guess I will start off with my many hair donation questions.

My first question is where should I give my hair to? I was thinking of locks of love, because almost everyone i know who has given hair has given it to locks of love. Who do you think I should give it to?

My second question is how do I donate it? My hair stylist said that she could cut my hair and send it but I would need to give her the address and information. Anything else I need to do?

Another comment I have is that I am a little scared to cut my hair (sounds stupid i know.) I have had long hair my whole life and I am worried i won't like my hair short...for me. All my friends have liked having their hair shorter. What did you think of your hair after you cut it?

Any other information on hair donation would be helpful!

Now about hair damage. I have very long, thick, blonde hair. I don't switch shampoos/conditioners. I don't flat iron/straighten, or curl my hair. I sometimes use the blow dryer, but most times I air dry. I usually where my hair in a ponytail. the outside of my hair is perfectly fine. the inside of my hair closer to the back of my neck however, is not. It is frizzy, all different lengths, and almost a different texture then the rest of my hair. My questions are, 1, why is my hair damaged on the inside, and, 2, how can i fix this.

any advice you can offer would be helpful. Thanks in advance! :)Question about hair damage and questions about hair donation.?
Donate it to Locks of Love. They make wigs for kids with cancer, you can't get a better place to donate the hair to. I would let my stylist send it in, or you can send it in yourself. There's a video on the page of how to donate. Here's a link to the page. http://www.locksoflove.org/

I was scared to cut my hair, but after I did I was in love with my new look. I got an A line bob, and it was so easy to take care of. Made my hair look super healthy, too.

Your hair damage comes from wearing your hair in a pony tail. You pull it up, and the strands break off underneath and cause it to look all frizzy. The solution is to stop wearing it in a ponytail and let the hair underneath have a chance to grow out and recover. Or just cut it off and start again, only this time avoid wearing a ponytail.

Hope this helped!

Which flat iron should I get?

Ok I asked a very similar question to this not too long ago, but didn't get many answers and many opinions..

So I'm gonna ask this again.

I want to buy a quality flat Iron but have never used one so I don't know how they work..

So from your knowledge and experiences, please help me out to get the best one.

P.S Remember I need one with narrow plates because I will more likely curl it then straighten it.

Im not sure if all of these straighteners are with narrow plates but these are the flat irons i had on mind:

- Solia

- GHD

- Corioliss Pro

- Sedu

Please guys tell me which one is for me, I have straight thin hair, and I want a flat Iron because there are lots of ways of curling and shaping it..

And I need more answers now!!

Thank you all!Which flat iron should I get?
well you didn't mention it above, but I have a Chi and I love it! honestly, it is the best straightener I have ever had. It heats up very quickly and it has great plates that don't damage your hair. I think they usually sell for a little over $100 but I got mine the day after Christmas for just about $80. I would highly recommend it. It also doubles as a quality curler and Chi straighteners sometimes come in funky patterns as well! Check it out. :)Which flat iron should I get?
Remember you get what you pay for! I personally would recommend a Chi iron. I use it in my salon, and even sell them. But remember with any iron always ALWAYS use a heat protectant!
Revlon's Ceramic Hair Straigthner its like 20 bucks you can get it anywhere it works great.
Neither. Get the remington wet 2 straight. Waisting more money on a Straightener won't make it better.

Lots of hair questions!!?

ok there is a lot of questions I need to ask. So here we go.

1. I have dyed my hair black for a long time....My natural Hair color is blonde. I want desprately to go back to my natural color. How can I do this?

2. I have very curly hair and I hate it. Is there anyway to starighten my hair without a flat iron? Because once the humidity hits my hair after I use a flat iron it instantly curls again.

3. Hair extensions? How was your experience with them? I've been thinking about getting them but I want some advice on it before I get them done. Also whats the price range on them?

Sorry about all the questions ^.^;Lots of hair questions!!?
OK, where to begin....

the easiest way to get your hair back would be to try a color remover NOT bleach but an actual remover, it works differently than bleach, try a stylist if you can, the results are not guaranteed a stylist will know better how to combat and fix this if it happens. color will not remove color so DO NOT try to change the color by coloring it. it won't work!! not without bleach and even then the results and damage are unknown.

2. you can try a chemical straightener for Caucasian hair NOT for ethnic hair it can and may melt your hair off! PLEASE use a professional for this. find one that has experience in it. It looks great if the y do it correctly, I had a girl hat after I was done just needed to blow dry with a brush rather than blow dry then iron it. It works like a perm but in reverse. Don't try a perm though, the combing that you would Need to do to keep it straight during processing will cause the hair to break.

3. I do them for quite a few clients, I have most that LOVE them and a few that didn't realize how much work they are. so, please find a stylist that has lots of experience, I have photo album of my work, most stylist should, ask for references if you want. there is alot that goes into considering extensions how thick is your hair? the thicker, the more you will need, the more it will cost. the care orf them, they take a bit of work, no just getting up and throwing them into a ponytail every day. I charge by the piece not the time, all stylist are different, find one you feel comfortable with, I like to educate my clients as well as do their hair. A good site is www.hairextensionguide.com they have alot of info that can help you.

Good luck

you may contact me if you have more questions :)Lots of hair questions!!?
I think you will find a lot of answers to your questions at http://www.hairfinder.com/hair_questions鈥?/a>
1. You will need to see someone in a salon about getting your hair back to blonde - they will most likely use a chemical reducer to try and 'strip' the black from your hair. Since you've been colouring it for a long time, it probably won't be able to go back to blonde straight away. Depending on whether your hair is dry/damaged, you may not be able to bleach it back to blonde after reducing - definitely need to have a professional look at it to avoid damaging your hair!

2. As far as straightening is concerned, your best bet is still to use the iron - just try a bit of product to help it out - once again, any salon should be able to advise you which products are best.

3. Sorry, I haven't had extensions before!

Hope this helps! :)
Find solution here:
1. Dye your hair a natural blonde color, and over time it will go back to your natural hair color

2. No shampoos cremes, conditoners sprays can make hair straight, only a flat iron, blowdryer or a perm

How to style with your natural hair texture?

I have wavy hair, but it's not nice, full wavy, it's a slight ugly wave and when I let my hair air dry it dries frizzy and then gets real flat.

I used to flat iron every day, which looks nice, but it kills my hair because it's thin. I like how it looks when I get slight waves from a 2'; curling iron, but I want to get away from using heat devices because I get split ends fast.

Do you have any products or tips that I could use to help my hair air dry nicer? How to style with your natural hair texture?
If you're washing your hair everyday with shampoo you are eliminating the natural oils on your hair that help give it texture and shape. Try washing your hair every 2-3 days with shampoo and on the other days just rinse with water. Trust me I know how you feel and my hair stylist told me to do this:) Apply a little mousse to damp hair and then dry your head upside down with a diffuser attachment on your hair dryer. I hope this works:)How to style with your natural hair texture?
herbal ecesence its alsome
Don't let your hair naturally dry. There is no way you can have nice hair that way. You should blow dry it and put some frizz-ease on it which you can buy at any wal mart or target. Then you should put some straightening gel. Just browse at the store and you should find a gel that is specifically made for straightening hair. Follow the directions on the product and you should have nice hair after you blow-dry it.
herbal ecesence, frizz-ease, matrix biolage

  • How do I look with curled hair?

So I curled my hair for like the first time EVER.

Yes, I know, that's strange, but I absolutely do not know how to use a curling iron, so I just used my straightner to curl it.

Anywho, curly hair makes my head feel a lot lighter and my hair less heavy and I would like to wear it out, but I'm not sure what people will say, especially since I barely know how to curl it.

So since this is the first time seeing me for you, tell me what your first impression is about the hair. Thank you!

P.s. Is the hair too flat on top and making the rest of the curly hair look weird?

alright so my hair is pretty short like shoulder length. i also have fine hair. i always try to curl it with a curling iron but it never works!! it just comes out crimped. i also have a straightener and i dont know how to curl with that either. i have really flat hair and i wanna do something different (particularly curls) but i dont want it to be super big curls just like soft waves like vanessa anne hudgens. please help me!!!

p.s i dont wanna go out and buy anything. are there any natural ways?

thankyou so much for your time :)Hair curling for short hair help?
start off with like almost air dryed hair NOT DAMPED . you can try taking a paper bag and rip it into 1 inch peices of stripes , then take it side ways and get a piece of your hair and roll it up into it then tie it all the way to the top at the bottom layer . then for the top layer just roll then tie it half way then go to sleep or wait or something for until it drys then undo it and you should have nice natuaral curls . good luck [=Hair curling for short hair help?
there are tons of good videos on youtube that would help ya out! :)

How do you guys manage to get the back of your hair straight - I cant see it!?

I've had this problem forever, when i straighten my hair with a flat iron, i cant ever seem to get the back of my hair straight because i cant see it, and i know it looks horrible.

i've tried blowdrying the back so it wont curl up as much, but it still gets kinda wavy.

Only thing ive ever tried is to hold up a little mirror and put my back towards the bathroom mirror, and then you can see it, but i cant hold up the mirror and use the flat iron at the same time!

any suggestions for how to get at this hair with the flat iron? How do you guys manage to get the back of your hair straight - I cant see it!?
ya know.. i have the exact same problem! ehhh.. sorry i cant help you i just feeel the pain. haha

oh! try a straightening balm or serum that you can put on it and then blowdry, after its dry, straighten. it should be alot straigher. thats how i tryyy to do mine. ;]How do you guys manage to get the back of your hair straight - I cant see it!?
Just look in the mirror and do it. If it is still wavy. straighten the beack of your hair again. And the guys hair that is straight in back is probably natural!
Do you have someone else that could do it? Maybe a parent or sibling?

Another suggestion is to carefully flatten the back and check periodically.
Turn your head in a mirror so you can see as much of the back as you can, straighten it like that. Or move your hair to one shoulder and try to look at it in a mirror (wall mirrors) and straighten. Also, you can try to feel for the back pieces, and straighten what you can feel. I used to have the same problem.
hmm in not quite sure what to do in this case.. but u could try holding up you back hair and straitening upwards.. im not sure how that would turn up tho..
i usally ask my older sister to straighten the back of my hair for me. but when she's not home, i flip my hair in front of my face and do it like that. but it usally gets all tangled.
i just hold it up and straighten.

i never understood why people have to see their hair while straightening o_O
turn your head upside dow to straighten because if you do this you can see all of your hair and get extra volume too !! it works great!!

    good luckk !
It is very simple just watch your hair and then put it all the way back.

    How to get curly hair?

ok so i have flat, brown hair thats long and i was wondering how to get curly hair without curling it with a curling iron because that really damages your hair!! thanks if you answer! How to get curly hair?
Well I use a flat iron to curl mine, but if you don't want to use electronics I would say wash your hair and put some mousse in it. Then I would put rollers in and blow dry it, then take the rollers out.How to get curly hair?
you could braid it (french braid if you want curls in all of you hair)

you could also put it in a bun over night

or put your hair in velcro rollers
Well, what i do is, when i get out of the shower, towel dry it a bit, then put mousse in, and scrunch it. You can either leave it to dry, or dry it on low. Its a really cute result. Just make sure not to use a brush, or you'll ruin the curls.
to make it wavy you can braid ur hair at night and then open it in the morning
take a shower and while your hair is still wet out your hair into a lot of braids then go to bed then when you wake up the next day take out the braids voila
lightly gel ur hair, the get 2x6 inch rags and roll ur hair up in them, leave overnight.

    get a perm!!!

    lightly gel ur hair, braid.

    crimp it!!!
Buy a permanent or impermanent hair curling kit, available from Superdrug. They're cheap too! :)
Listen to cassie, My ex usd to do it all the time and it was adorible.
    Rag curls.

First: Get lots and lots of strips of cotton fabric

2:Put a barrette with 1 strip of cotton and put it on your head to keep the cotton still

3: twist little amounts of hair around the cotton

4:then using the leftover part of the cotton strip, wrap it around your hair.

5:tie it with the barretted hair.

6: repeat with all cotton strips.

*Use wet hair for maximum strength

*IF these instructions aren't clear, search on Google

    Hope this helps

P.S. It will stay in for 3-5 days if you don't shower.
The more I sweat the curlier my hair gets. And when I say I sweat, I mean I sweat a lot and then it dries in my hair, then I sweat more and it dries in my hair, etc. Do that a few days and your hair will be curly.
Idk but i want to learn.
with wet hair use setting gel or setting spray and roll your hair. the more rollers, the more curls. the smaller the rollers, the tighter the curl. those pink hair rollers you see on TV actually work. it's best to sit under a dryer or you can use a blow dryer to help dry faster. or wait over night for your hair to dry. remove the rollers and use your fingers to gently arrange the curls. do not comb or brush. spray with a setting/holding spray.

Help!! im not sure how to use a flat iron.?

i just bought a flat iron called remington. please tell me how to straighten my bangs. their straight but the upper part is not the way i want it. i want to flip my bangs. thanks for all your help. oh and how do i curl my hair with it. =]Help!! im not sure how to use a flat iron.?
Plug it in, and after 10 minutes it should be hot enough. Hold your hand around the bottom so you can clasp it down when you straighten your hair. Use the other hand on the top of the straightener as support and extra straightening power. Put a lock of hair in between the plates and clasp down and hold it like that, pulling it down towards the end of your hair. Practice small bits of hair first and get more confident so you don't burn yourself. Try to keep the straightener like 2-3 inches at least away from your hair roots because your hair loses health and volume the closer it comes to the roots. Good luck:) Flat irons are amazing.Help!! im not sure how to use a flat iron.?
Make sure you have it good and hot then start at the top with a lock of hair and pull it between the two plates. It helps and will be straighter if you do this slowly. If you want your bangs flipped then pull out toward the bottom of the lock of hair. Hope it works out!
ooooh i have a chi and a remington wet 2 straight. the remington is better!!! anyways, wait like 1 min before it heats up and then slowly run it through

How do you get your hair to straighten???!?

I use a flat iron, but it isn't straightening my hair, i mean it sorta is, but it just isn't working right! :|

My hair goes to my shoulders which might be the problem, my hair always just sits on them and curls up. If i flatten my hair out with my fingers its longer than my shoulders, but the flat iron won't do that! it just, well, makes my hair flat on the top half of my head, but where it curls up(where i want it to straighten) it doesn't straighten! sometimes, if i get lucky, it will work, but when i walk to school, it goes back to being wavy and not straight! please help, what am i doing wrong?!

O.oHow do you get your hair to straighten???!?
    yyooouu need the ';stuff';. haha.

i used to have the same problem with my hair. i use smoothing shampoo of any type like garnier frutis (sp) ';sleek and shine'; or ';none of your frizziness'; and ';dangerously straight'; by herbal essance. i shampoo and condition my hair every night. then after i towel dry it, i put in ';sleek and shine'; leave-in conditioner. nnoott too much, though. or my hair will be oily and dirty feeling. :/

i usually let my hair dry naturally and straighten it in the morning. i just blow dried my hair like 40 minutes ago. haha. so ';usually'; is a random term. haha.

i section my hair in parts to straighten it. i start with small sections starting from the under layers and working my way to the top of my hair i save my bangs from the flat iron most of the time to keep that swish look. i ddiissspise having my bangs pin straight and in my face.

after straighting, i work in ';sleek and shine'; smoothing cream. it saves my hair from the humidity and from frizz. :] my hair usually stays great all day. sometimes i may have to do touch ups on my ends after classes, but not much.

i use a chi. a good straightener will go a long way. i know they're expensive, but they're ssooo worth it. you have to be delicate with a chi if you get one: usual plate cleanings and careful cord care.

also, get your hair completely layered! it looks great, crisp and it's easy to keep in shape. :]

hope this helps. if you want a picture, follow the lliinnkk :]:

http://i37.tinypic.com/2cppxrk.jpgHow do you get your hair to straighten???!?
Hey! I HATE this problem and I had it for awhile but I got help :)

First off you need to make sure you have a good straightner. The ones you buy at Target or Walmart will not work. These will cost you more but they work great, I would suggest a Paul Mitchell or a Chi. Secondly, talk to you hair dresser about this problem. There are alot of layering ideas that can help the hair to not curl under. Finally make sure that when you are straightning you straighen the underneath part of your hair, it will help the outer part not to curl under. I hope this helps!!
yea you def need a better straightnerr!!! like a chi or sumthing.

or a new haircut maybe? you could either grow our hair out more or cut them so they r not sitting on your shoulders!

    good luck :)

Hey i've gt a question about styling my hair with a curling iron.....??? please help?

i know i just asked this question yesterday but i didnt get too any answers and it didnt really help lol. okay i just got a curling iron as a goft and frankly i dont know how to use it. its a ';my curl'; by sanyel with dual heat control';. does this signify anything? i'm don't style dumb it';s just i never really do anything with my hair i just usually put it in one of those giant clip/mancha or just in a ponytail. i never really use gel or sprays because i don't really know what i should use and it just doesnt feel right having y hair full of stuff lol. school is starting soon so i was hoping to go possibly with a new style. my hair type is very curly (in the morning) but after i brush it it turns wavy but frizzy and poofy, umm. well it's red/brown color and it's flat near the roots but then it's thick towards the end and sometimes a natural soft curl comes out and it looks really nice . i don't know what to do with it lol. i know the curling iron can damage the hair with the heat and all but i was just hoping maybe somene can give me some advice on wat i can do with it? like any styles that might look nice or any websites that can give some instructions, or any advice on the curling iron itself? i heard that u need to wet your hair before yu curl it? i dont think thats right though but im not sure. thank you for any advice and for the help i really appreciate it =)Hey i've gt a question about styling my hair with a curling iron.....??? please help?
Okay, that was a lot of info, but I can help. First, to prevent from heat damage, when your hair is damp, spray your hair with a heat protectant spray, which you can get from any store like Wal-Mart. Then let your hair dry, because you don't want to curt wet hair, this is going to steam and could burn you. Whether you want to curl or wave your hair out, do it in sections by pulling the top half up into a pony and clipping it away from the section your working with. Then you grab a inch of hair. To wave, hold the barrel of the curling iron facing down, wrapping the 1-inch piece around the barrel, AWAY from the face. This gives the hair a natural look. To curl take same size piece of hair and put it in the barrel and pull it to the end and wap around barrel. Hold the hair there for about 10 seconds to get a good hold. Repeat with all of your hair in section. If you are waving your hair, take a wave gel/cream like Sun Silk waves of envy twisty gel/cream stuff and put a little dime size amount in your hand. Rub hands together and then scrunch it in your curls. Use one dime size for each side and the back. If you curled your hair, use a aerosol hair spray all over and scrunch your curls to get the hair spray all over. Hope this helps!

ok. my hair is naturally wavy. i hate it, so i straighten it, but i love it when it is really curly (spirals, if possible) . what i want to know is how do you curl your hair with a flat iron??? btw, mine is not the little kind, so i don't know if it would work. also, i saw a question about crimping your hair by putting your hair in 2 braids then go over it with a flat iron. should you hair be wet or dry?? how long should it be in the braids???? thanx. if you could answer all of the questions, that would be great.Someone pleeeeeeeeze help me with hair questions??
you really should use a diffuser and curly hair products but you wrap the section mof hair around the iron starting at the base near the scalp and turn section by section till u reach the ends.crimping would be eassier with a crimper but braid your hair wet the night before then do the iron over it in the morning when the hair is drySomeone pleeeeeeeeze help me with hair questions??

Is this Hot Tools flat iron a good one?

Who has used it and how are the results? Can you add curl to your hair with it?

    Here's the flat iron:

It's good. You will be able to curl your hair with it. Hot Tools is a good brand without being as expensive as the ';elite'; flat irons like chi. It's a great choice.

christmas is coming up and i'm going to wear a super cute outfit all i need is a super cute hairstyle.

i wanted a selena gomez hair style but u need to make your hair curly but i don't have a curling iron and i don't know how to curl my hair with a flat iron. i do have Satin hair curls but they never come out rite. how long do i have to keep them in to get a not so tight but not so lose curls?Cute hairstyle ideas or websites?
dont hold to hard or to lightCute hairstyle ideas or websites?
Well I use my flat iron to straighten my hair and to curl it, but if you were to curl it then you would have to grab a portion of your hair and start from the mid. top section and curl the straightener inward and see what happens!
If you have curlers, you can put your hair in them after dampening you hair with a bit of water. Leave them in, and them when your hair is dry brush it ONCE through with a paddle brush to loosen the curls. If you can get a big barreled curling iron, that might work better. Or you could blow dry it around a circular brush. Good Luck!
I would check some hairstyles Victoria Beckham used. Surely, she is a trend setter and she has something new every time

How would you style your hair like this (pics included)?

My hair naturally lies flat and I don't have to straighten it to get it that way. Because of this, I've never really styled my hair with a curling iron and were straight hairstyles instead. My hair a few inches past my shoulders. I'd like to style my hair to give it some texture or wave and volume but I'm pretty clueless about it!

Two women whose hairstyle I really like are those of Sheryl Crow and Lauren Graham. How would I get my hair like this? I'm looking for a step by stress process like if you use a hair diffuser, mousse, gel, then the curling iron ect. Basically if you woke up one morning and were going to do your hair like this how would you do so. I heard to get her hair like that Sheryl has to use a ton of hair gels and mousse to get it like that and that it's quiet a process. What would a body perm or hair wave do for this style? I'm talk looser curls; not tight curls for a perm. Thanks for your help!

    1. make sure your hair is straight, dry and CLEAN... no product in it

(if you don't have naturally straight hair, you might want to straighten it with an iron first)

    2. take a curling iron... maybe about 2'' thick

    3. take hair spray or freeze spray and a small chunk of hair..

    4. spray your chunk of hair

    5. wrap that chunk of hair around the iron. your hair will sizzle... its normal

    6. keep it around the iron for about i dunno 6-8 seconds depending on your thickness and length of hair

    7. release hair from iron

    8. repeat

this technique gives you more control over the size of your curls and volume as well

spray your head completely for a solid hold

if you have naturally wavy hair, you could try gel/mousse and a diffuser but you risk frizz

How to curl hair or give waves to straight hair at home?

    Hey

I was hoping you could tell me how to curl my hair at home, like before I got for a party or something. Light curls, nothing very flashy or anything. Probably just a few really nice waves (my hair's realllllllllly straight and I've always wondered how it'd look with a few waves).

    Something like this -

    http://www.tshirtwatch.com/blog/wp-conte鈥?/a>

I know this is a model but we can do this hair at home right?

I have hairdriers - both the round and long type, round vented brush, leave in conditioner, mousse and a hairspray but I'm not sure how to do it. I also have a flat-iron which doubles as a perming iron but I don't think that's help here right? I don't have any one to help me either, its just going to be me doing it however I can.

Suggestions will be very, very welcome! Please reply and I'll help you with your answers - I promise! Thank you!How to curl hair or give waves to straight hair at home?
Well I have naturally straight hair too and it sucks! My hair never curled, scrunched, waved, anything! But I found a solution. I buy curl enhancing products, which work amazingly! When i scrunch my hair, I buy curl enhancing mousse, and when i curl my hair I buy curl enhancing hairspray! I would try curl enhancing products. They really do work, and I love them :) My hair stays curled for the whole day without going flat!

Emo's new short hair cut and new fashions??

Bobs and short haircuts for women made their debut in the 1920s and were greeted with raised eyebrows and allegations of scandal. Since then, bobs and short haircuts for women have become permanent fashion fixtures and are here to stay. Bobs and short haircuts can be quite easy to manage and can look appropriate for any occasion, depending on how they are shaped and styled.

The classic bob was a blunt cut that made the hair the same length as the ears all around (except the front, of course) with a hint of curl formed by old-fashioned curlers. Today, there are as many bobs and short haircuts as there are types of women who wear them, and the famous bob has evolved to fit almost every fashion requirement.

Styling bobs and short haircuts can be quite simple, since there is less hair to work with. However, trying an unfamiliar style also has its challenges, and sometimes patience and trial and error are required before creating the perfect look.

? For a classic, blunt bob, make the hair straight all around, and ask the stylist for bangs. Using gel, comb your wet hair straight as you blow dry. Spray it well.

? For a Pageboy bob: Use a wide-barrelled curler and curl the back of your hair and bangs under. Wait for the curls to cool, and brush gently, encouraging the large curls, with a large, round brush. Spray well.

? For a flip bob: If you like the mostly straight bob with a little flip in or out at end, use a flat iron to make most of your hair straight, and make your hair flip in or flip out at the ends by twisting inch wide sections around the flat iron.

? Kinky bob: If you do not have naturally curly hair, create curls using wacky curlers or by using a narrow-barrelled curling iron. Leave the curlers in your hair for at least a half and hour and blow your hair dry, or, using a curler, wind your hair around the iron in one-inch wide sections. Use a pick to arrange your curls and spray well.

? Layered Bob: If your hair is layered, and you would like a soft, natural looking bob, rinse out your conditioner well and work mousse through your wet hair. Dry well, using your fingers to style your hair and twist some strands of hair for extra wave.

? Super glossy bob: This look is great for formal events. Use shampoo and conditioner specially designed to bring out the sheen in your hair. Sculpt wet hair with gel and brush straight. Blow dry on a low setting, and finish with a hair spray that will make your hair very shiny.

? Super short bob: Paris Hilton sported this bob shortly before getting her hair sheared. This bob requires very little maintenance. The hair should be cropped close to the face. Use a little mousse to give the hair a bit of volume. You needn't worry about making the bob very curly or very straight, since this is a natural looking hairdo. Simply use mousse, coax your hair into the desired style with a brush as you blow it dry.

? Emo bob: Although emo's claim to ignore fashion, the bob has hit even the emo crowd. Cut your hair into a blunt cut with scissors. Don't worry if the ends are not exactly even. Dye your hair black and add red or frosted highlights if you wish.

Bobs and short haircuts can create a very ';sweet'; look. A short haircut that has as much sass and elegance as a bob is the ';pixie'; look. This hairstyle is great if you have an oval face and want soft bangs that emphasize your eyes. The back is cut in the shape of a wedge, and more hair is left at the top. The bangs can be curled under or combed straight. A little curl is quite feminine and brings out the eyes.Emo's new short hair cut and new fashions??

An iron that does Curling and straightening both?

hi, i've seen so many youtube videos on how to curl your hair with a flat iron with rounded edges. ex: http://www.amazon.com/Remington-Sleek-Cu鈥?/a> (remington sleek and curl)

I can't seem to find it at my nearest target. but walmart has something similar http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.d鈥?/a> (remingto professional hair straightener)

i only want to get it if it works for both straightening and curling.... can anybody out there help me or tell me if it'll work on curling? thank you!!!An iron that does Curling and straightening both?
You can get a con-air curling iron. It's round edges like a curling iron but in the middle it opens to a flat iron. There really inexpensive you can get them from a sally, target, walmart,t j max. Its like $20.An iron that does Curling and straightening both?
Look for a thin barrel, all hair straighteners can curl hair, its the way you use them that will make the curls, not the straightener itself, it only provides the heat.

GHDs are the industry standard but are not cheap and many others will work :)
it def works, I have the Chi iron which is expensive but its worth it.. i actually got it on ebay for cheaper

    Ok, so this looks really simple, like you just take your curling iron to the ends of you hair and curl, right? Well I tried and as usual I came up with something totally different. So I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong... The result of my attempt was a sort of flipped out look at the ends of my hair instead of ringlets. Could this be because I already flat-ironed my hair to get rid of the natural frizz and weird wave? Or is my curling iron the wrong size (a medium barrel)? If you have any advice please let me know!     Anyways, how can you curl your hair without using an iron. D;

I've tried using my flat iron to curl my hair, but it turned out super messy. Braids don't work for me either,

and my only solution are rollers.

there are products such as sunsilk waves of envy, or curl enchancers and srunch spray. if you use srunch or curling spray, spray a little on a piece of hair while its wet, then twist it around your finger and blow dry it on cool or warm air, and it should come out curly, or take a small round brush and twist it around thatCurling hair?

    CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?

Ok so a lot of the thin (like 1';) straighteners are also said to be used for curling your hair. I just purchased a ULTRA CHI 1'; %26amp; was wondering if anyone has tried to do it %26amp; how it works. its definetly good for flipping the bottom of your hair, ive tried that. how does the curling work? what do you do? also....anyone else have this flat iron? Its an ULTRA CHI 1';, red, %26amp; it came with a pouch to carry it in %26amp; a lil bottle of the silk infusion! that made me happy. lol. it was like $159.00

Thanks guys!CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?
I have used my chi straigtener to curl my hair and it works and looks greatt!..i dont think its the ultra but it shouldnt make a difference. a lot of my friends think its hard to do it..but its actually really easy once you get the hang of it. all you have to do is clamp your hair as if you were straightening it and then use both of your hands to twist/rotate it around. it should create a good curl..if its too spiral for you, you can lightly straighten it and it should ease it down. you also want to do a larger chunk of hair because if you do a lot of little ones, it might look funny!! haha and once your done make sure you separate the curls so it looks natural! :) good luck!CURLING WITH A FLAT IRON?
Wow, this will be hard to explain but will try my best. Grab small sections of your hair. Start half way, place the hair in the flat iron, then begin twisting while working yourself down the ends. Walk into any beauty supply store that sells flat irons the sales rep should be able to show you how. That's what I did %26amp; now I curl my hair all the time with a flat iron (works much better than a curling iron). Looks great!

Do curling irons work with everyone?

so im planning to get one tomorrow.

and i wen to youtube and stuff on how to curl your hair with a flat iron.

tried it and it doesnt work with me.

so im planning to buy a curling iron.

but does that work with everyone's hair?

well i have like thick hair.

like most asians do(not trying to be racist)

    so yeahh,.

thanksDo curling irons work with everyone?
yeah just make sure you get the highest temperate one

or you could try it when its almost dry but not all the wayDo curling irons work with everyone?
Yeah I tried to get my hair to curl with a flat iron too, it didn't work. a curling iron should work, because you can do it in sections so your hair isn't so thick. It will take a bit of practice though. It took me like 4 times till I could actually get it right. Get a curling iron depending on the curls you want. If you want just a giant wave type thing, get a 3 1/2 inch one. If you want small waves, like http://www.funfolly.com/g/w/w1218ad.gif then get a 1/2 inch curling iron. If you want loose curls, like http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_L2xQX5qyQlw/SP鈥?/a> get around an inch curling iron.
You can't curl your hair with a flat iron because the heat doesn't go to the entire lock of hair. Get the curling iron, if it's thick hair your curles will stay for longer.

Yeah, it works for everyone. People with natural curly hair have to use a flat iron and then the curling iron to get the curles they want. You'll be fine.

I bought one last week and it works perfectly for me! (I have A LOT of very thick hair)

    Good Luck!

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090822195636AAWiN1y
yes curling irons work on everyone. i went to cosmetology school for 2 years and just graduated. if you have think hair, make sure u use thinner sections. and use hairspray to keep them in longer. it is really hard to curl hair with a straightener.. its like only the salon professionals know how to do it perfectly! lol. so the curling iron will work. oh any by the way... asians usually have thin hair =]
as for curling it think twice about a curling iron, I'd use a flat iron just because its better for you hair, its quicker and easier.

Its for curling ur hair with the flat iron.
i would suggest going into a hair salon. there are proffessional curling irons that work AMAZINGLY, wihtout damaging the hair for the same approximate cost of a conair for example.

look for a ceramic curling iron with a HIGH heat.
Yes, curling irons work on everyone but you may need to use more hairspray or something to maintain the curls. You're supposed to spray some in your hair before you start and brush it through.
Most but not all hair but it shud with ur hair
Yes it might take longer than thiner hair though

  • How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?

I'm getting my first flat iron and I really like CHI's Pink Dazzle one, which has a one year warranty (do they last?). I heard CHI irons are energy efficient (20-25 watts) and cause less damage than some other brands' irons because their irons have ceramic coils instead of copper. So anyway, here's what I want to know:

    1. Are they good at preventing damage?

    2. How's the quality; are they sturdy and do they last?

    3. Are the flat irons good for waving your hair?

And since I have no experience with flat irons, I have some questions about using them:

    1. What products should I apply before using them and to maintain the curls/waves afterwards (ie. heat protectant, serums, hairspray)?

    2. What is the best way/technique to curl my hair?

    3. Is it easy to burn yourself and should I prevent that?

    4. Can I use the flat iron on my hair when it's wet and will that lessen the damage even more and dry it, too (I know some irons have built-in blow dryers -- I don't think the one I like does, though, but wouldn't the heat still dry it a bit)?

Also, money's not an issue; I'm not searching for a cheaper alternative unless you have used CHI irons (correctly) and think they're plain rubbish.

Sorry about all of the questions and thanks to everyone who answers =].How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
Ok..so I've been flat ironing my hair for 4 years..i have gone through many products..many flat irons and many blow dryers !!

funny enough..my last flat iron was the chi !!..i also had a years warranty but what happened was it doesn't work anymore..it wont heat up and the wire is all messed..i took super good care of it and i only had it for 8 months. since i got it from a salon..they said i couldn't get my $$ back..blah blah

chi's are really excellent flat iron..they work great on wavy to extreme curly hair..but so do a lot of other flat irons..the new flat iron i got is vidal sasson for course hair..its AWESOME :D

chi isn't worth it to me :P

to flat iron your hair.. separate it in sections..do your under hair first..clip the rest up..then your middle and then your top..it will insure you get every strand and part of your hair. go from the begging of the root to the end slowly. And use a flat brush (minimizes frizz ;D)

ALWAYS BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR BEFORE FLAT IRONING IT!!!!!! loll...flat ironing wet hair will create sooooo much damage trust! blow dry your hair in sections or as is but spray in a heat protective or a heat protective cream(apply when hair is wet)

a good trick that i do to keep frizz down, make my hair shine and seal the strands..is when your in the shower you probs shower in warm water..so before your done..put the water a bit colder..and rinse out your hair. (:

hope i helped..good luck and remember true beauty comes from confidence and being yourself(:How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
First, please don't straighten your hair when it's wet. Sooo bad for it.

I would definately recommend a CHI. Use a conditioning product (I'd recommend Paul Mitchell's Strength Super Strong Liquid Treatment) before you blow out your hair and then a heat spray when you are styling (Paul Mitchell's Hot Off The Press). It'll help hold the style and keep your hair in it's best condition.

It's hard to explain exactly how to do it so I found a youtube video that should give you a pretty good idea. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv-JSQbcu鈥?/a>

Do layers make your hair curly?

i got layers about a week ago and it seems that when i straighten it my hair curls up at the ends and it NEVER did that before. No matter how many times i run the flat iron thru it it keep curling. and my hair also seems thicker too for some reason. i've been thinking about getting it thinned with the razor but since i have naturally curly hair i heard that it's not good to get the razor cut. does anyone have any good tips?Do layers make your hair curly?
actually, if you have naturally curly hair, it will make the curl come out even more. Less hair weighs the hair down less. So what may have once been a wave will become a curl.

I know this because my stylist purposely put layers into my hair to add body and to enhance my natural curl. With layers, I dont' have to put as much product in my hair.

and there is no telling which way it will curl. There is not really a way to predict it.Do layers make your hair curly?
    nope sorry =0)
Try using a curling iron, but not to curl it. Just use it like you would a straightener.
If you already have naturally curly hair, then it would still be curly after layers!
    no
    nopp it shouldnt
no, it actually makes it straight
well i did the same thing and i found out that if while straitening it u should curl it toward ur face and not flip it out if u know what i mean.
when I have mine cut in layers it does the same thing.. Layers give your hair a bit of body. won't hurt to check with your beautician
umm... i dont think that layers make your hair curly at all... these girls at my school have layers and super straight hair... if you have naturally curly hair, thats probably the reason why it curls up ... that same thing happens to alot too but i also have naturally curly hair

    happy christmasHair questions...help!?
Hello! Okay so here is the secret to Taylor Swift Hair!

    1.

    a. If you must have a protector try to find one designed by Loreal! They always do a great job! If not I know Tresemme has plenty.

    b. If you follow step number two (on shampoo and whatnot) you will not need a protector!

    2.

    a. Shampoo: Loreal Vive Pro Shampoo for Fine Hair That Needs Volume

    b. Conditioner: Loreal Vive Pro Hydra Gloss Conditioner for Very Dry/Damaged Hair

    c. Only put on the conditioner to the ends else it will weigh your ends down!

    d. Even if your hair is not damaged still use that product so your hair won't be dead.

    3.

    a. To get Taylor Swift hair you need to use a curling iron and if you use the pas products suggested it will not burn!

    b. Curl your hair all the from the tips to your ROOTS (this is a very critical part) if your roots aren't curled your look will not work.

    c. Leave your hair in the ringlets you've created (it should look flat and ugly lol don't touch them!) and spray it down with hair spray.

    d. Next tease your roots just a little then flip your hair over and go crazy! Haha than do whatever with it. Viola! Your hair is gorgeous!

    4.

    a. DON'T USE SPONGE CURLERS! It just doesn't work honey trust me.

    5.

    a. Your hair is not going to grow two to three inches over the break no matter what you do.

    6.

    a. I would just go with Conair.

    b. Honestly it doesn't matter though!

Okay! I haven't heard of number seven before! Sorry! (Omg girlfriend this whole thing got erased and I re-typed it just to make your hair look good! Dang I'm a good friend hahaha. Okay well tell me how that works out for ya! =) Happy styling!

How do i get my hair curly AND keep the curls?

cuz when i go to sleep, they get all flat..lolz...like..if i sleep with a satin scarf on my head..will it keep the curls like when you flat iron your hair...it keeps it nice...does it work like that for curls too?

and any other tips....PLZ let me know!..most successful idea will get the points! How do i get my hair curly AND keep the curls?
    I have the same question.

    You should for one.

Straighten your hair and sleep on it straight.

    Then in the morning.

Use a curling iron to make curls, and twist them around your finger and then bobby pin the twists to your head.

After your hair is all clipped up, hair spray a light layer around your head.

Then release the bobby pins for nice full curls. (make sure you don't use too much hairspray or it will be sticky and stiff)

If you want to do it at night and then sleep on it,

then just touch up what fell out in the morning.

Hope that helps =]How do i get my hair curly AND keep the curls?

What kind of flat iron should I get? I was thinking about a kiyoseki styler, but not sure?

I'm always worried about my hair and messing with it.

My hair curls when it gets wet, and it's really frizzy and puffy curls too.

My flat iron is getting old and I need to buy a new one because I've noticed recently the decrease in it's ability to make it straight at all.

I want my hair to get almost pin straight, I hate curly hair on me.

So I need a flat iron that works and doesn't fry my hair or dry it out.

I heard of the Kiyoseki Styler on TV and I saw some people on here saying it works, but I'm still a little skeptic because it was on an infromercial and I know there are lots of scams on things like that.

    Does it really add shine?

How well does it straighten your hair?

    Does it help frizzy hair?

Do you recommend any other flat irons? Where can I get them? How much do they cost?

Please give me as many details as you possibly can. I'm very serious when it comes to my hair, haha. Thank you (:What kind of flat iron should I get? I was thinking about a kiyoseki styler, but not sure?
    i use a conair.

its about 25 dollars at walmart and has an heat adjustment wheel too.

and i use loreal heat seeker straightening cream its to keep frizz down and curls awayWhat kind of flat iron should I get? I was thinking about a kiyoseki styler, but not sure?
well I have had mine for 5 years! and it works as perfectly as it did when I bought it, it's a conair one.
I don't know about that one but if you're willing to spend tons of money on a flat iron get a Sedu or a Chi... I've heard they're quite good, though I haven't been able to try one myself.
    a CHI!

    A CHI!

    :)
Get a chi or a paul mitchell!!!! Its great and leaves your hair silky smooth!!!
a chi will have your hair board straight or a flat iron from sephora will last a very long time and will get your hair very very straight

Flat iron or mousse? (to make hair straight)?

I have really wavy hair and I have a flat iron, but get tired of doing it ever day and damaging hair even though I use protector products. I was wondering if straightening your hair with mousse is better, and does it stay in longer? I did it but had to wash my hair out that day. Also, how could you use the mousse to make hair really straight. I mean, I have try to make the roots straight but they always curl back. I usually do the mouse then straighten roots with the flat iron but it takes quite a while. If you have any other ideas of straightening hair well please tell me. Thanks!

~Ellie.Flat iron or mousse? (to make hair straight)?
    flat iron

i hate mousse so i jus straighten. i kno it gets old but i listen to music while doing it. it takes me 30 min to and hour to do it. my hair is actually not that damaged.

    Your morning?

I want to know what your morning routine is. what time you get up, what products you use, and how long it takes you.

Also, how should I do my hair and make-up for school? I have thick, strawberry blonde hair, past the shoulders and layered. The stuff I have I can use includes:

Big and small curling iron, flat iron, hair dryer, straightening cream, curling gel, mousse, tons of lip gloss (clear and two tinted, one peach the other pink), blush, powder, a quad of pink/white shadow, purple and gold (HIP collection) shadow, a peach/gold trio shadow, clear mascara, eyelash curler, brown and lilac liner.

please and thank you! oh, and about one hour in the morning to get it all done.

my other info: pale skin, blue eyes, freckles, 5'3';, roundish face with nice cheekbones but not much skin, a long neck, cool undertones, yea...etc...Your morning?
    Hi! =D

    First I wash, tone, and toothbrush. [ I use Clean%26amp;Clear ]

Then I straighten my hair; apply my gel %26amp; hairspray.

    [ Straightener = Conair. Gel = BigSexyHair. Hairspray = BigSexyHair %26amp; Dove (somtimes) ]

After I start doing my makeup. I usually go for a natural look.

I apply my moisturizer with SPF 15 [ Olay Complete ] in it.

    Then I use my conealer.

Then apply a really thin coat of foundation.

[ Neutrogena (I'm trying to buy Bare Escentuals ]

    [ Concealer = Physician's Formula ]

Then I start doing my eyes. I apply an eyeshadow liner [ MAC, WetnWild, CoverGirl ]most of the time because it's really hot where I live, so applying regular eyeliner is just a waste because it'll just start smudge after an hour or so. Sometimes I apply fluidline [ MAC ], during the winter or cool days I do apply regular pencil and liquid eyeliner [ Maybelline's Unstoppable Pencil Liner %26amp; Maybelline's Ultra Waterproof Liquid Liner ] . I apply my pencil on my top lid [ only my top lid ] then over the pencil line I apply my liquid liner.

    But anyways xD

After that I curl my eyelashes and apply my mascara. Sometimes on the top only sometimes on both top%26amp;bottom lashes, it depends on my mood. I don't usually apply eyeshadow because I don't really feel that I need it. I usually only wear it when there's a special occasion.

    [ Mascara = Maybelline's Unstoppable, Define a Lash, %26amp; Great Lash.

    Eyeshadow = MAC, Wet%26amp;Wild, Covergirl ]

Next, I lightly powder my whole face to set my foundation. I waited after I did my eyes so the foundation could set. Then I apply my blush.

    [ Powder = Neutrogena Skin-clearing Pressed Powder ]

[ Blush = Maybelline's blush line, CoverGirl TruBlend Blush ]

Finally, I put carmex on my lips and put lipstick. Yest, lipstick. Sometimes lip-gloss, sometimes both. Again it depends on my mood.

    [ Lipstick = Maybelline's Moisturizing Lipstick %26amp; CoverGirl's TruBlend Lipstick. ]

    [ LipGloss = Loreal Colour Juice %26amp; Maybelline's Shine Seduction ]

Then the final step I take is. I wet a paper towel and then squeeze it. Then I lightly really really lightly pat my face. I do this to get rid of any extra powder or foundation hanging loose.

    Estimated time: 45-60 minutes.Your morning?
you were a lot of makeup make sure you dont look fake
Wow your physical features sound exactly like me.

Ok well i usually blowdry and straighten my hair the night before and then straighten the kinks out in the morning. Then i apply mascara (brown), curl lashes and sometimes light brown eyeliner and a little foundation. Just make sure not to overdo your makeup!

Thats about it... oh and a little tinted chapstick sometimes... lipgloss always looks to heavy though.

i get up a 6:30 and have to get the bus around 7:20, so i have about 45 minutes in the morning.
i used to spend a hour every morning getting ready when i was in high school.

when i started working and going to college everyday, it was cut to about 30 minutes for work and 20 for school.

now i am about to graduate and start my career, and i can get ready in 10-15 minutes everyday with a look that i like and is not complicated. i can straighten my hair, do all the necessary skin care and random bathroom stuff, do foundation or powder, blush, a shadow or two, liner, mascara, and lip color in that much time, and look great.

for a special night out with my husband, i spend a good 45 minutes, and for church i spend about 30.

what takes the longest is searching for the products i want... i have tons and tons of makeup!!!

3 Hair questions? (Why does it ';Bend';, why wont it curl, and deep conditioning)?

Ok, so I have 3 questions about my hair. But you should probably know a little bit about my hair first.

Ok. So when I was 2, my hair was completely curly. the my mom cut it, it went completely straight. Now, even if it blow it out, I get like its straight against my hair until about my ears, then it like bends out or like poofs out, and goes straight again like an inch lower. Also, I have real problems curling it. Lastly, I want to deep condition it, but its kinda greasy (or ';shiny'; if your my mom...) so I want to know a couple things about that. Ok my questions are:

    1. Why does my hair do that bending thingy? How can i get rid of it? (oh btw I have curling iron, but my mom wont buy me a flat iron, because she thinks my hair is ';too straight anyway';)

    2. Why won't my hair curl? What would be the best thing to curl it with? (ex: Curling iron (what diameter?) Hot rollers, or those squishy ones you sleep in. (I have a curling iron (1 1/2 in) and hot rollers, but where could i get the squishy ones you sleep in?) Also, are there any products that would help it curl? (I can't curl it when its wet, it poofs out and looks really gross)

    3. What kind of conditioner should i use to deep condition? (Currently i have head and shoulders, the green one) How often should I deep condition it? (Oh btw im a preteen)

Kay, Thanks In Advance, and thanks 4 taking the time to read this. :)

    Love Ya!

Katee =)3 Hair questions? (Why does it ';Bend';, why wont it curl, and deep conditioning)?
Yeah I used to have unmanagable hair, but then I learned the trick to managing it-time each morning

Shiny hair is beautiful! You don't want dull dead looking hair! But if it really is oily then shower more often! Shower an hour before you go to bed, any earlier and your hair will be real greasy in the morning.

    1) Because thats the way your hair folicles work. Curl your hair from bottom to top- all the way to the top and hold it there and count to 10 if its real difficult.

    2) because your heat settings aren't high enough and your not holding the curling iron on it for a long enough time. Maybe the pieces of hair you're trying to curl are too big. Take 1/4 inch sections of hair and try it, you'll get perfect curls everytime. Turn your heat settings up to the maximum. Get a small curling iron (1/2 inch or less). I used to have the same curling iron as you and I had the same problem- that curling iron gives you waves, not curls so thats your issue.

    3) Use pantene time renewel conditioner- its made for real damaged hair but it works wonders on all hair types!3 Hair questions? (Why does it ';Bend';, why wont it curl, and deep conditioning)?
    ..
It's hard to say. You may have over processed, which may effect the way it's curling. Everyone's hair is different, and there really is no way of knowing why someone else's hair does what it does. The best thing to use for hard to curl hair are hot rollers w/ that steam. The best time to use them is when you've just washed and dried your hair (air dried or blowdry -- after washing, your hair still obtains some moisture).

Pre-treat your hair with some heat-activated hair product (The brand Beyond the Zone is a good choice, I use this: http://www.beyondthezone.com/turn_up_the_heat.aspx You can find it at Wal-Mart or anyother beauty supply or drug store. Best thing, it won't hurt your pocketbook). Put the hot rollers in, and let them SET until they are COMPLETELY cool.

Once cool, remove them out slowly, and let the curl sit. Finger combing is best after this, but you can touch up with your curling iron and comb just to fine tune. Over conditioning can also result in weighted down, unruly hair, so beware of this as well.

Trial and error, that's all it is. Over-processing with a flatiron will absolutely take the life out of your hair....so your mom is wise at this point. Once you start using a good flat iron, it'll be really tough to ever curl your hair again. They're really damaging....I know. :D

    Good luck.

PS: Keep your conditioner AWAY from your roots...let it set on your ends only. Heavy conditioning can really weigh your hair down, and give you a greasy look.
hi, yeah i'll try to answer :)

erm i'm not sure about the first two, but whatever conditioner you are using, try putting it onto dry hair every couple of weeks and then sleep with it in your hair, and rinse it out in the morning :)

put a towel over your pillow so it doesn't ruin anything xxxxxxxxx

A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?

what is a good product to use on your hair if its mid back (like to bra strap) and dyed.

I was told to use leave in conditioner or some heat protectant spray. But I don't know which one is correct? :[

I finally got the way to actually curl it with my flat iron. But I want to make sure its perfect not all frizzy or stringy.

All your help would be apprciated!

    Thanks! %26lt;3 Robyn

PS- i'm looking for curls that are like this.. http://www.evilbeetgossip.com/wp-content鈥?/a>A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?
I have straight hair the same length as yours and there are a number of different ways to curl your hair. Here are some of my techniques:

    1. Hot rollers - they seem old fashioned but the work really well to give big soft curls like in the picture - they take about 15 minutes to put in and then you leave them in for 15 minutes (while applying make-up) then take 5 minutes to take out - it will take some practice but it works well once you have the hang of it.

    2. Not sure what they're called but they are cold, bendy sticks and you wrap your hair around them and coil it into a bun and either sleep on it or blow dry it and that also produces a nice curl and is fairly easy

    3. Scrunching... easy and fast - I apply a texturising spray to my wet hair and scrunch pieces of it under the hairdryer and you get a messy, beachy look which is not like your picture but different types of curls are good.

    4. straightening iron (ghds are fantastic) - it took me a while to get the hang of the motion but there are two ways to produce curls with it that I find effective.

    - taking a piece of hair at the scalp and clamping it, then you twist the straightener one revolution and pull through the length of your hair or you can start half way to produce curls only at the bottom

    - or you can clamp a piece at your scalp and turn it 180 degrees and pull it down for about 5cm then turn it the other way 180degrees all the way down the piece of hair and that also creates a nice wave

    - if you combine the two methods you get a natural look and once you've practised, you will learn variations

    5. Last super easy method is to put your hair in a few buns on your head and blow dry each one for a few minutes and that also gives beachy waves.

I have limp fine hair and it took my years to work out what would hold curls in.... you can buy volumising mousse or spritzes that you put in your hair before curling which work really well. I use garnier XXL volume which is fantastic. I use a texturising spray on my curls which also makes the waves look good but if you want a more perfect looking style like in your picture, I would suggest curling or volume mousse before styling and then a light hairspray to hold because you don't want it to look unnaturally glued together or to weigh the curls down.A ';how to curl your hair'; question!?
use a strainer that what i use then pull them down to drop them a little it will stay for the whole day
You can skip the leave-in conditioner; Heat protectant sprays have a conditioning agent.

After towel-drying your hair, spray heat protectant (Tresemme is great, and very reasonable) generously over your hair. Then apply a curl-defining gel-- or mousse, if your hair is fine-- (Tresemme Bouncy Curls Defining Gel or Flawless Curls Mousse) through your hair. Comb through with fingers to ensure even distribution. Blow dry straight with a round brush, or upside-down, to give your hair some body.

After your hair is dry and you've finished curling, spritz with a dry hairspray (like Aussie Sprunch Aerosol, or Tresemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist).
There are video out there show you how to do that:

Curling my hair with a curling iron pleaseeeeee help!!?

so i recently bought the 1'; hot tools curling iron and i watched a lot of videos on youtube on how to curl your hair but all the girls start off with pin straight hair .. do they straighten their hair prior or do they blow dry it or do they just have naturally straight hair? i have wavy, frizzy, poofy hair .. i have really really stubborn kinks at the top of my head but then they straighten out at the bottom .. should i straighten my hair before curling it with a curling iron or blow dry or what? also what products should i use .. another thing is that my curls ALWAYS fall out .. if i use a flat iron or curling iron .. i have THICK hair .. what should i do pleaseee help

thank you (:Curling my hair with a curling iron pleaseeeeee help!!?
try it both ways. for me since i have really thick hair. i wash and blow dry it then take pieces of my hair and curl it until the whole head is done. my hairs curly and thick and sounds like yours so i think it gives it much more volume. but straightened hair might work best for you

    id just experiment

xCurling my hair with a curling iron pleaseeeeee help!!?
Take it back and buy the In-styler it does better with thick hair
buy a good buy and retirn da one yew have:P
okay, so my hair is kinda liked yours, but when i want to curl my i have it dry, not straight or anything, just normal ! so then i curl it, and then i use moose to help keep the curls in and then i hair spray it, lots of hair spray

    hope it helped!
after you get out of the shower, blow dry your hair straight...dont straighten it! that will confuse your hair :) after you blow dry it straight, get some extra hold hair spray and while your hair is being curled hairspray it. hold your hair around the barrel for 10-15 sec. make sure and only get 1 inch sections in the barrel at a time so it will help them stay. after you're done, spray all your hair lightly. this works for me as i have the same problem. good luck!
straighten it first or put a serum on or like a anti-frizz OR lol uhmm if u have straight hair from ur roots then u dont have to because ur curling the bottom half of your hair. Hope it helped%26lt;33
never ever straighten your hair, and then curl it. It burns it like crazy! Just do this- when you curl your hair up in the curling iron, before you release, spray that curl with hairspray, and then release. do that to all of your hair. If your still worried about it falling out, do an extra coat of hairspray on the whole thing. Its a lot of hairspray, but it works.. :)
you should use some ani-frizz cream on your hair when its wet so it will be a little but more tame.

then you should get some heat-resistance spray so you don't totally fry your hair

put that on it, then blow dry with a brush.

after its totally dry, put some more of the heat spray on and then curl it.

your hair doesnt have to be straight, but its hard to manage if its really frizzy and kinky. so go to wal mart or something and just get some shampoo and cremes to help with that :]

  • Need help curling my hair with a straightening iron?

I watched a bunch of youtube videos on how to do it, but I just can't seem to get it. I'm having a problem that only the bottom of my hair gets curled. Another problem is that near the top there is like little marks where I kept the flat iron there. But I don't think it would even curl my hair if I turned down the heat.

What do you think is the easiest method of curling hair with a straightening iron, and what are your tips?Need help curling my hair with a straightening iron?
I just figured out how to curl hair with a straightening iron.

Before I was just like you because everyone would say to just straighten your hair as usual but flip it up at 180 degrees as you were running it down.

Ok the problem with that is that it is curling your hair in the wrong direction, because gravity is going to want to pull that 180 degree flip right back down.

Instead of clamping the iron onto the hair in a way that the iron is Horizontal to your head, what you have to do is actually tilt your iron so it is vertical to your head and clamp and turn as you pull through. So instead you are straightening your hair sideways while turning it. This will produce an actual curl that starts from closer to the base of your head and not just a flip or two at the end.

If you are still confused you can send me a msg asking.

Make sure to use a 1-inch straightening iron.

I recommend Babyliss Pro Titanium in their one inch, it's perfect for this!!Need help curling my hair with a straightening iron?
if its too difficult just get a curling iron
    go slower at the top.

if you get it just right it looks really cute.
get an 11/2 inch barrel curling iron, then you can curl AND straighten your hair with one tool.

Best flat iron for natural AA hair.?

I am anl African American female who does not get relaxers, sometimes I like wearing my hair straight so I decided to invest in a great flat iron for curly hair. I have natural 3c/4a hair, with a deep hair/curl pattern. What is the best flat iron for this type of hair, like what are some flat irons you ladies consider good for natural hair?

Can you tell me the type of flat iron, whether or not your hair is relaxed, how long it stays straight, and the basic pros and cons of that flat iron, thanks.Best flat iron for natural AA hair.?
I don't think it's so much the flat iron as the technique you use. Usually you have to blow out first and THEN flat iron. Don't forget a heat protectant. Here's one natural's regimen.

I am a stylist, african american, and have a ridicoulously retarded hair texture myself. (I have a relaxer- but my hair doesn't like relaxers, so my relaxer takes the ';puffiness'; out of my hair, but doesn't get it straight... It's my hair texture- not the brand relaxer I use)... Enuf about me-

We have finally evolved beyond the oressing comb- that's a last resort nowadays.... I use a Chi iron and a Fhi (that is also made by Chi- but sold in Chinese Shops). If u don't sweat alot or live in a humid area, it can last about a week and a half, maybe 2 (wrap ur hair at night).

You could also try a Babybliss flat iron- it's a little cheaper than the other irons I mentioned (which are around 90.00 and higher).

Whatever Iron u decide on- be prepared to invest some money, and make sure it has ceramic plates. (if it's not ceramic, the coating on the plaates will eventually chip and snag on ur hair- causing breakage) Also, make sure u get some sort of thermal styling/ heat protectant. My favorites are by Mizani- it is a serum so it ads lots of shine and u don't need 2 use alot. You could also use the serum by Chi, or the protectant by SleekLook (it's in an orange bottle, by Matrix)
Honestly, if you have natural hair, I don't think a flat iron will work good for you. I think your best bet would be to use a hot iron comb. Unless you have experience using them, I recommend seeing a professional to have them straighten your hair. The results will last much longer as well.

I want big curly/wavy hair with my flat iron, but HOW?!?

I love experimenting with my hair and trying new styles and such. I just bought a really nice chi, and as you may know you can make cute curls/waves with a flat iron. But it seems flat? Like... the curl itself. I mean i can tease my hair and really fluff it up but... the curl, itself, is very flat. Anybody know anything that i can do to fix this? Am i doing something wrong? Are there any products you can suggest? If so, id love your help. Thanks (:I want big curly/wavy hair with my flat iron, but HOW?!?

So, to those of you who curl your hair with a flat iron, which one do you use and how do you like the results?Best/cheapest 1 to 1-1/2 inch flat iron for loose curls?
Paul Mitchell has the best flat irons in the world. That is all i use product wis and i have never been happier with my hair. They just came out with a new flat iron the Express Ion Smooth. It has a silicone strip on one side that shines your hair as you smooth it or curl it. It also never grabs. You know how sometimes your flat iron stops and makes a crimp? This one doesn't get caught up. Try it you will love it. It is an investment but it has a lifetime warrenty. Meaning if it for any reason breaks send it in the box it came in to the address that is in the box and they send yours or a new one back to you.

How do you curl your hair?

In a week I will be going to a dance, and this is like the middle school prom-- kind of a big deal!!! I have thin, blonde, layered hair that falls about an inch below my shoulders. I have a curling iron, a flat iron, and hot rollers at home. I can't buy anything new. I'm just going to leave it down with the curls--no outrageous up-dos or anything. Also, I prefer tighter curls to looser ones.

I'd also like to know how to keep it held for a long time and last through all the dancing.

Thank you SOOO much--I really appreciate it!How do you curl your hair?
I use my CHI! luv it! it only takes about 10 minutes too, but it does do loose curls. How do you curl your hair?
i dont know im a guy
    get gel and curl with your fingeer; to keep it for a long timee usee profesional spray,if you have...;
u can try hair spray of moose
shampoo your hair put some mousse or jel in it dry with blow dryer and use your hot rollers take 2 inch by 2 inch sections and roll them up let set in hair for about a half hour or so take them down and flip your hair over and use your fingers as a pick and run them through your hair flip your hair back and use your fingers again to tame it down don't brush your hair or you'll lose the curls make sure you put hairspray on it to hold the curls practice a few times before the prom so you have it down
i have REALLY straight hair and it wont last more than a couple hour and my sister has the problem until a while ago. u have to be patient and part ur hair and use ur curling iron to curl ur hair really tightly and as soon as u let it go put strong hold hairspray on it and just keep doing that with everythiung and before u nkow it everything will be pretty and curly! :D
First off you need to do your hair at least once before hand so you know what you want and how to do it. second go in the black hair styling products area and get a hair spritz called ';Stiff Stuff';. This stuff holds like nothing else. Use a smaller barrel curling iron and small amounts or hair. after you curl it let it cool DON'T BRUSH IT OUT. you will loose your curl. finger comb it into small curls . Good luck have fun.
to start wash your hair the day before you want to style it if your hair is thin. if not your hair will be to silky.Depending on what type of curls you want, there are different techniques. If you want spirals either use a spiral curling iron or a regular one with your hair wrapped around the outside. If you want to use hot rollers this is a instructional video http://www.ehow.com/video_1325_curl-hair鈥?/a>

if your using a flat iron this a good instructional video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k57daS_c_鈥?/a> and when your finished use non crunch hairspray

Wavy hairstyles-How To Give Your Hair Sexy Waves

    http://geebal.blogspot.com/2008/03/wavy-鈥?/a>

Is there a good product to use before you curl your hair?

I have hair that naturally has a lot of body and wave. I don't have ringlets but when it gets wet it does have curl. I love how my hair looks when I curl it with a barrel curling iron but by the end of the night it always falls flat no matter how much hairspray I use. Also, it's sometimes frizzy; nothing like when i straighten it. Is there any pre-curling iron treatment I can use that reduces frizz but keeps my curls in tact?Is there a good product to use before you curl your hair?
I would suggest using both a leave in conditioner and a heat protector for your hair. The leave in conditioner will help your hair with frizz you already have while a heat protector will prevent more frizz from appearing.

Do you know how to make your hair curly without it getting flat in the middle of the day?

i always try to curl my hair with a curling iron and spray with hairspray and it dosent stay.what can i do to make it stay curly throughout the day?Do you know how to make your hair curly without it getting flat in the middle of the day?
use a strong hold mousse like got2b glued or biolage and a gel. don't be afraid to use gel to scrunch. get a volumizing spray..i like aussie aussome volumeDo you know how to make your hair curly without it getting flat in the middle of the day?
there is this hairspray that i use that is called rusk. if you get the atomizer it basically cements your hair in place.
Sometimes hairspray can actually weigh your hair down causing it to look flat.

I would suggest getting a curl enhancing cream and applying it to your hair after you wash it. When your hair is dry [before you curl it] it will already look more curly. Try holding the curling iron on your hair for a few seconds longer then you usually do. Also, never brush your hair out after you curl it--just break it up with your fingers a little bit. Brushing it causes it to look flat.
Use a curling iron at 11:00 AM instead of earlier and it will not be flat by the middle of the day.

How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?

I have bendable rollers - the kind which have a wire wrapped up with soft foamy material, hairdriers - both the round and long type, round vented brush, leave in conditioner, mousse and a hairspray but I'm not sure how to do it. I also have a flat-iron which doubles as a perming iron but I don't think that's help here right? I don't have any one to help me either, its just going to be me doing it however I can.

Suggestions will be very, very welcome! Please reply and I'll help you with your answers - I promise! Thank you!

P.S. The other hairdryer i have (the one other than the round one) is I think a hot stick. I don't really know for sure but its a straight rod-like hair dryer where heat comes from inside. So yeah. And the hairspray - its liquid and I don't want to use it. Thanks! How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?
A few things to help you get 'beach waves' ...

Wrap your hair in small buns around your head when your hair is just damp. (Do not draw out partings)

When you wake up in the morning, do not comb or pick your hair, Just take the buns out and go.

Don't make the buns all to tight, take medium size peices of hair, and pin it with bobby pins...

That or look it up on your tube, they have videos online to offer more help....How to curl straight hair or give it light waves with a flat iron or bendable rollers?
Put a piece of your hair in your straightener like you are going to straightenit but wrap your hair around it and then turn the straightener once, slowly, and then slowly move it down like you are straightening it. That should give you light waves. That's what I normally do:)

    Help please?

you could either put your hair in the wire rollers while its still kinda damp

    and then blow dry it

    that might do it

orr use the straightener and twirl it as you go down the hair

or just use it as a curler kind of hold the hair in it and wind it up

    and thenhair sparay

or plaid your hair at night andlet it out in the morning :)

    hope these work for you
use a lot of hair jell and twist many sections of hair and clip each twisted section in a ball until dry.

How do u curl your haior with a flat iron?

I have thick long hair and I have the wet 2 straight hair straightener. As u know it is square and i was wondering if any body knew hoe to curl with that???

Also if you know any good hair styles for my hair??How do u curl your haior with a flat iron?
Basically it is next to impossible with the style of flat iron you have. Also if you have very thick hair it is unlikely the flat iron you have will actually get your hair completely straight. As far as style just look in different magazines and see what you like. I am assuming if you bought a flat iron you have some natural curl. You can always try wearing your hair loose and leaving it curly. It takes less time and people who don't have curly hair think it looks great. How do u curl your haior with a flat iron?
You need a chi to do that. Very thin barrel. It needs to be heated all the way around too.
you have to have a straightener that has rounded edges otherwise your hair will look more crimped than curled

And I recommend getting a 3/4 inch rounded flat iron to curl your hair.
There are some flat iron that are really made to do this such as GHD. Check out their web site. GHD stands for great Hair Day.

But you can try it with your. Pull the iron half way down your hair . Wrap the remaining ends around the iron then roll the iron back to the top of your head to curl the top. It is hard to explain but try it.

Also you can start at the top and twist the hair around the iron as you pull it slowly downward in the spiral motion.

Let it cool completely before you mess with it and it will stay longer. Google the above web site and see if it helps.

    Good Luck

How do you curl your hair with a hair straightener without it being all kinky?

i want nice curls, and i heard i can use a flat iron to curl it, but i dont want little kinks in my curls... how do i do this? How do you curl your hair with a hair straightener without it being all kinky?
When you place your flat iron on your hair, instead of pulling the flat iron straight, turn it half way and then run it down your hair. Also, the edge of the plates need to be rounded to keep from getting kinks. I have a GHD and they are made for that purpose too. If you have trouble getting the right turn on the flat iron, visit a salon and ask if they will show you how to hold and run the flat iron down your hair to get curls. Remember heat protection spray too. Good luck! How do you curl your hair with a hair straightener without it being all kinky?
get a hair curler... non-ceramic ones are like less than $20 at the drugstore. or u can get a good one for like $100.
There are lots of videos on you tube about this, go look one up. First, make sure you have a iron that can do this easily. the ones that the plates wrap around the side are the best, but other ones will do, if yours has a sharp corner, be careful, make smooth moves or else you'll get kinks in your hair.

    Good luck
I personally don't think flat irons work at all when curling hair. Just buy a curling iron. They're not expensive, easy to use, and would definitely curl your hair a whole lot better than a hair straightener.
i know what you're talking about. i JUST started using a flat iron. it takes a lot of practice.
just dont use a straightener....if it was meant to curl hair it would be called a curling iron! duh!
you have to have a rounded ceramic straightner.

you can look at youtube for all the details.

    :)
It's quite easy and if you have a really good flat iron they'll look great! Here's a video that'll show you how to do it:
