Beauty questions and such?

my hair is really dry and all, and my natural texture is just a mess compared to how it was 2 years ago due to flat ironing and curling.

i can't do ANYTHING with products when it's wet at all, no matter how many i try. so, any home remedies? and what heat protectant spray should i start using? cause i don't use any and i should.

and any shampoos you'd recommend?

and for face, how can you get rid of purple circles under them? and how can you make your skin more even toned, and whats the best exfoliator?

and when i wake up in the morning, i get really dry skin around my nose, like nostrils and under the bridge of where my glasses sit.

and how can you make your eyes pop and make your eyelashes thicker and longer?

answers = greatly appreciated :)

and i'm kind of on a budget so bear with me !Beauty questions and such?
mmmm dont feel like answering this.

Do I have to stop altogether?

My hair is naturally extremely curly, thick, %26amp; dry. I straighten it at least once a month %26amp; keep my hair very healthy otherwise %26amp; trim off the ends once I cut them.

Anyways, my hair will ONLY stay straight if I blow dry it straight (using a heat protectant of course) %26amp; then flat ironing it on 450 degrees with a flat iron (heat protectant again). I know it's bad to use heat on your hair at all, but I do like it straight sometimes.

I really have tried different levels of heat but the highest heat is the only one that will keep my hair straight. How can I continue doing this without destroying my hair/curls? Is there any way?

Thanks in advance. :)Do I have to stop altogether?
Find a couple conditioners that help your hair and alternate them out after a few weeks. Go to a salon get your hair cut/trimmed every 3 to 5 months. If you shower everyday only shampoo your hair every other day or every other couple days(but still condition.)

It shouldn't stunt the growth, trimming your hair will make it grow faster, and heat shouldn't do much other than cause split ends.Do I have to stop altogether?
Just make sure you are using a heat protective spray. That is major, especially if you're using heat that high.

How can i make my hair wavyer and fuller?

OK! My hair is SO stright! I'v tryed several things to get it fuller but they never work. I'v tryed putting it up in a bun at night. It just makes it frizzy at the bottom and it's never fully dry when i wake up cause my hair is so thick. Always gose back to STRAIGHT! I know washing your hair makes it fuller but for some reason that's not working for me either. I wash it every other day. Yet it still is as flat and straight as paper. I'm not gonna get a perm cause i wanna grow it out and make it more heathy cause i used some s***ty box color on it. BLEH! If there is ANYTHING that i can do to give it some body or wave without having to curl it with an iron every day plz tell me.

Thanks sweet face!

-CiciHow can i make my hair wavyer and fuller?
There's certain shampoos you can use to make it fuller. You can also use hairspray to give it more bodyHow can i make my hair wavyer and fuller?
Try teasing it... it's where you lift up a section of hair, take a comb and kind of make knots under it so the hair stands up and has volume... I'm sure if you google it or look for it on youtube you can find some good techniques :)

Orr maybe you could get some layers, that might help too.
oh huney! Mine is too!! I wonder the same thing and am too looking for the answer...so hope you dont mind if i sit back and wait for a solution!!

How can I style my hair if im in 7th grade and just a beginner?

Hi. I am an african american girl and I want to take on the responsibilities of taking care of my own hair. My hair is not relaxed, but I used the Just For Me Texture Softener which makes hair easier to manage while leaving your natural curls. I have a lot of just for me products to use on my hair and greases to use such as hindu sheen, Africa's Best SUPER GRO, Jam, and Lano Lustre. As for the Just For Me products, I have the oil moisterizing lotion, the detangler, the smoothing gel and the scalp conditioner which is grease. But i have no idea at all how to use them. I need help! My hair goes about 5 inches past my shoulder when it is flat ironed (which I don't know how to do) I have always used garnier fructis or pantene on my hair as shampoo and conditioner and i dont know how to wash my hair. I dont now how to do anything with it! Can you please give me some tips on styling and please tell me how to use the products I have listed. Or please give me a link telling me how. I'm counting on you!

Hey, I kinda know how you are feeling! I am a girl ad in seventh grade 2 ;) Flat ironing is REALLY easy.! I thought it was hard but after you get the hang of it it is WICKED easy! Neway that is one option. You could also get your hair cut shorter, or even layers! If you dont know what layers are, layers are different hair lengths like the bottom could be long and the top short! Put the the detangler in your hair after you take a shower its much easier! Hope some of it helped..?? Easier for an answer from someone your age

Help finding this straightener/curler, please!?

ok, so i recently went on a school trip to washington dc and in the mall there, they had a little booth thing and this lady had hair straighteners and curlers all in 1 machine. they look like a normal flat iron: just the two parts that squished together. so here is all that i know about it:

-the lady said it was ceramic

-it came with a lifetime warranty (but i'm not ure if that was the product or her offer)

-it was a regular $250 and she was selling it for $100

-there was a miny sized one (if that means anything)

-to curl your hair, you just curled it around the outside of the straightener

-when i heard the brand or whatever, i'm pretty sure it was the name of a person

i really wish i would've written something down or something. but i didn't have enough money to get it there and i thought i would be able to get it when we got back home. when i did get home, i researched and found some jose eber products, but i'm not sure if any of them work like how i described. and i'm not even sure if that's the right brand.

any help would be greatly appreciated! anything you have at all. thanks so muchHelp finding this straightener/curler, please!?
I found a few flat irons that curl as well...dunno if I found the exact one tho :S

How do i make loose curls with a round brush and how do i straighten it with a round brush?

i have thick brown wavy hair but i want it to be uniform and loose curls. and i tried to do it with a round brush before and it turned out okay it's just i want to know exactly how to do it.

somedays i just want to straighten my hair and i don't like to use flat irons and i heard you can just blow it straight so i want to know how to do that too. thanks for your help! =]How do i make loose curls with a round brush and how do i straighten it with a round brush?
for curls, you need a smaller round brush... note that you won't get the same results as a curling iron, but if you wrap your hair around the brush (like you would with a curling iron) and blast it with hot air from the dryer, you'll get curls. Make sure you hold the brush vertically.

for straight hair, use a big round brush, and curl your hair under with it, holding the brush horizontally. just start at the ends and roll it up, but don't go too tight or you'll get it stuck. just keep repeating that motion until it's straight. How do i make loose curls with a round brush and how do i straighten it with a round brush?
you need the widest round brush that you can get. to do small tiny curls you will have tohave a curling iron that is 1/8th of an inch. round brush will tangle! Curling iron for small curles but round brush for light wavey curls or to straighten. to sraighten use a constant circular motion with the round brush while drying on high with the blow dryer in a 360 fashion but pulling the hair in the direction that you want it to lay. ie straightening or putting it where you want it it works and he will fly _ _ _ _ well you know

Questions about relaxer?!?!?

hi, im a guy, hispanic, and i have short, coarse, naturally dry , super curly hair like the one in this picture ..

http://www.marieclaire.com/cm/realbeauty/images/ik/rb-tight-long-curls-5-0809-de.jpg

after getting the japanese hair straightening done 3 times, im totally broke and i cant afford to have a new one done.. im tired of flat ironing my hair everyday, plus, i live in a HOT HUMID TROPICAL PLACE (puerto vallarta, mexico) and summer is coming ;S so i would like to relax my hair with a lye hair relaxer i got from the US (mizani butter blend regular strenght) .. but since im doing it myself, with a lil help from my dad (cuz we have no experienced stylist on relaxing hair, here in mexico u.u ) there are some things id like to know before relaxing my hair:

1. I know its important to base your scalp correctly before applying the relaxer, but i find this step too difficult because i always get the jelly not only on my scalp, but also on my hair , and i want my hair to come out really straight but i dont want to get burns T_T.. so are there any easy and effective ways to base the scalp without getting the base on my hair??

2. how much time after the last wash should i wait to relax my hair?? many ppl say 1 week, others say 5 days, 3 days, 2 days.. im pretty much confused =/

3. ive watched tons of hair relaxing tutorials and i see that they always blow dry and flat iron the hair immediatly after getting it relaxed... is this necessary ?? or can i just let it air dry after neutralizing ??

4. after relaxing my hair and air drying/blowdrying it, can i get it wet like the next day?? cuz i go to the gym everyday and i need to wash my hair daily (at least with conditioner, not shampoo) ...

5. when you apply the relaxer, you are then supposed to smooth out the hair.. how should this be done?? with my fingers?? with a comb?? cuz i want my hair to come out nice, straight and smooth.

6. when applying the relaxer, am i supposed to apply it all over my head and then set the timer ?? or start counting time as soon as i start applying it??

7. ive noticed than in most cases, african americans relax their hair and it comes out like kinda straight, kinda wavy and puffy and frizzy and they have to wroap it and/or flat iron it. i saw on the internet that that happens bcuz african hair is almost always super tightly coiled and the hair doesnt completely straightens and it adopts a puffy texture.. will this happen to me?? i mean, my hair is short, i just wanna get out of the shower, put on some hair wax , get it messy spiky looking and be ready to go .. i dont want to flat iron my hair everyday =(

ok i think thats all, srry if i worte tooo much but im kinda frustrated cuz i want my hair to be pretty U_U

thanks a lot everybody!Questions about relaxer?!?!?
1. follow the directions very carefully, you don't want scalp burns. remember that relaxer swells so you shouldn't put it directly on your scalp anyway

2. read the directions, mizani is a good company ...you can call and ask their customer service how long you should wait...and don't keep relaxing the same hair, it'll break

3. you don't have to flat iron the hair right away, that's just a finishing touch but at least blow it dry

4. you can absolutely wash your hair...that's not a problem

5. don't use your fingers!! use a comb...comb it out and then use the flat base of the comb to smooth

6. it shouldn't take you long to get it all on, but yes start counting after you have it on

7. it depends on the texture of your hair

good luck

Black Women Basic Training Hair?

I have a curly afro right now. I don't straighten it with a flat iron because the humidity would make it curl instantly. I can only comb it wet with conditioner. How do I wear it for basic training? It's not long enough to put in a ponytail yet and I know that you get like no time in the shower or to get ready. Are microbraids my only option? I also know it has to fit under your hat. (my dad was in the airforce) Got any basic training hairstyle tips?Black Women Basic Training Hair?
I saw you also asked a question about shaved heads for women in the military. My suggestion, at least for basic, would be to get your hair cut short, close to the head. It will require minimum care at a time when you won't have it and will easily fit under any gear or masks. Once you finish basic and have done your career training, you'll know more about any issues hair could have and can decide on the style you want for longer term then.Black Women Basic Training Hair?
My advice to you is to try and go with the mirco braids or something that will be low maintenance because you will not have a lot of time for personal hygiene in basic. At night you will be so pooped that all you will want to do is sleep. If it is manageable with the curly fro, then go with it. Just long as you can control. You dont want to be the one that is sticking out that the Drill Instructors (female ones) will single you out for your do. Good luck with basic and stay positive. Dont let the drama/stress get you down. Stay encouraged!
Not only does your hair have to fit under your ';hat'; (I can't beleive I said that), it must also:

* Present a professional military appearance

* Not interfere with the wear of a ballistic helmet

* Not interfere with the wear of a protective mask

* Not extend below the collar of your jacket

So if you want to go to BT, get your hair sorted before you get there and keep it under control.
Well I would suggest braids but make sure when u get them it complies with Army Regulation 670-1...

Female Hair Standards

Female soldiers will ensure their hair is neatly groomed, that the length and bulk of the hair are not excessive, and that the hair does not present a ragged, unkempt, or extreme appearance. Likewise, trendy styles that result in shaved portions of the scalp (other than the neckline) or designs cut into the hair are prohibited. Females may wear braids and cornrows as long as the braided style is conservative, the braids and cornrows lie snugly on the head, and any holding devices comply with the standards. Dreadlocks (unkempt, twisted, matted individual parts of hair) are prohibited in uniform or in civilian clothes on duty. Hair will not fall over the eyebrows or extend below the bottom edge of the collar at any time during normal activity or when standing in formation. Long hair that falls naturally below the bottom edge of the collar, to include braids, will be neatly and inconspicuously fastened or pinned, so no free-hanging hair is visible. This includes styles worn with the improved physical fitness uniform (IPFU).

If you hair isnt long enough to go in a bun and as long as it does not go below your collar you will be fine to wear it down, however some female DS will try to make you pull it back anyways and will tell you to use hair pins or clips that are of your hair color... when I went to BCT I cut about 4 inches off my hair , but my hair still remained long, and I put my hair in a bun always but I watched other females get in trouble about their hair, you will always find one or two females who will try .. I would start now training your hair to lay down, or get the braids as long as there are no designs, your hair is braided straight back and you can place it in a bun without it interfering with your head gear.

its good you use conditioner i also suggest looking at something to keep your hair oiled , remember your gonna go to the field 3 times while at BCT , there was a female in our bay who had lice yeah they check at reception but clearly didnt do a good job.... Good Luck to you..

  • Permanent Hair straightening question...?

I have really curly hair and it's absolutely enormous and frizzy in tight curls and normally I straighten it every day with a hairdryer and flat iron but it's getting to be too much work.

How much does it cost to have your hair permanently straightened?

    How long does it last?

Is it worth it?Permanent Hair straightening question...?
I don't agree that it will ruin your hair forever, but if your hair is that kinky curly to begin with, you will still be required to straighten it daily. It will make it easier to work with, but how much easier is dependant on the product used and the exact texture of hair you have - as well as how straight you want it to look in the end. Also, as your hair grows in, you'll need to get touch-ups to keep your desired look, so it is an on-going price issue.

If you are seriously considering it, I recommend setting up a consultation with a stylist to see what they think your options are - and they can give you the low-down on exactly what to expect in both result and price. From there, you can weigh your options and make an informed decision...good luck!Permanent Hair straightening question...?
its $$$ and dries out your hair. if your hair grows fast it wont las t very long. just don't wash your hair everyday wash everyother and straighten everyother.i have vurly hair to..i hate it but everyone loves it..i usually pull it into a pony tail or straighten the bottom half and put the top in a clip..when i striaghten it all its still poofy cuz my hairs thick!!..i also wear a headband with it down.
My sister's friend used to have brown curly hair-- VERY curly, sounds just like yours, and she absolutely HATED it, and guess what? She got it permanently straightened. Now it is even worse than before, TOTALLY frizzy, poofy, and NOT attractive. She even regrets it... but hey that was about a year ago... and its already back to normal... only it is permanently frizzy. Hun?? Don't do it, all you are going to do is completely ruin your hair for good... trust me. please. I know what you mean, I have very wavy hair myself, and i straighten it... but it is WAY too much work... I'm sorry to tell you but you're stupid to do that, and besides, it is very expensive and a waste of money, i was thinking of doing it myself. good question. If you want to ruin your hair for good, then do it. If you don't want to ruin it... then don't do it. There are certain shampoos, conditioners, and gels out there that will help to keep your hair straighter and easier to straighten... even if they are kind of expensive... but they work and don't ruin your hair, give them a shot!! Good luck. =]
Well I am Spanish and have VERY curly hair too. What I do is I get a relaxer. I get the children's ones though. Try just for me or TCB get the mildest ones they have and have a professional apply it. It will run you depending on where you go about 50-70 bucks. For me it will last about 6-10 weeks depending on how I treat it. By that I mean if I wrap it up every night like you are supposed to, don't get it wet and most important don't let my hubby cause me to sweat. LOL. After they apply it they will straighten it for you and you will need to get it redone about once a week. You can last two weeks without getting it redone but I MUST wash my hair at the VERY least once a week. To me it is worth it. The best part is since I get the children's one it does not get rid of all my curl it just gets rid of that wave that's always there when you blow dry. But please remember that a relaxer will dry your hair out if you do not care for it the right way. Get deep conditioners about twice a month and you should be fine. Hope I was able to help you.
I have the same problem as you. I did it before %26amp; it ony lasted a week. it is NOT worth the effort. I would just blowdry your hair straight. You should not dry your hair EVERYDAY. Let it go for 2-3 days. That is what I do. Deep condition once a week too %26amp; try a glaze makes hair shiny %26amp; soft. Use aussie 32 minute miracle deep conditioner or john freida hair gloss sold at drugstores.....
i get my hair realxed, but i use a childrens relaxer, it reall ymild so it doesnt damge your hair that much, nd when my hair comes out its still curly my curls have jus dropped, i wouldnt ever ean to get it completely straight, it costs like 50-70 $. it lasts like 4 or 5 months, i think its worth it, jus get a mild realxer

I have a couple questions about my hair?

Well I have brown hair that is about an inch or two below my shoulders. It's super thin and naturally kind of straight but super frizzy/puffy.

My first question is Do flat irons completely damage your hair?

I've been straightening my hair for about three or four years and up until a few months ago I havn't used heat protectant, but now I do. My hair grows super slowly so do you think straightening it is whats causing that?

Also, if stopping straightening my hair meant that it would grow faster, I dont know what to do with it. So does anyone know any good hairstyles. I've tried curling it, scrunching it, and sleeping with braids. It always just turned out like a big frizz ball.

Any tips on how to not damage it so much? and any good hairstyles for my type of hair?

:)I have a couple questions about my hair?
no i don't think straightening your hair has caused it to grow slower.. your hair is dead cells, it cant feel or anything. but straightening your hair for so many years without protecting it is probably what is making it so frizzy, because its really damaged.
well if you iron is uber hot that is one thing that is bad. take some paper towel and clam the iron (when its hot) and if the paper towel turns brown its too hot.

Also. start buying some more expensive shampoo.

i buy Mark anthony moisture gloss.

My hair does get dry but this helps and it helps it not be soo frizzy. and i bleach my hair between 1-2 times a month cause i like to be blond. and my hair is super healthy and soft people are in amazment. also when conditioning leave it in for between 2 - 5 min. i usually shave my legs when i leave my conditioner in.
Yes the heat is causing that. What I would do for frizzy hair is take a shower before you go to bed, but make sure you brush it or it'll be evan worse. Sorry I don't have any good hair styles for any hair. Im used to mine down. cid
yes. most likely it is your straightener. Here is what you do:

    -Lay off the straightener

    - Trim your hair a good amount to get rid of all damaged/split ends

    - Buy a good repairing shampoo and conditioner

    - Use a moisturizing cream mask (reduces frizz)

    - Massage your scalp to promote growth

    - After washing your hair, use a good strengthening serum (which will repair your hair hair and reduce frizz making it appear healthier)

If you do all of the above for a long time (basically until your hair grows faster and longer and most of your hair is repaired and you can just cut off any remaining dead hairs.)

You can do many hairstyles, try getting a good cut. Your hair can look fab without much styling as long as you have a great cut that frames your face properly.

PS- remember, no hairstyle will look as good while your hair is still damaged. repair it first, then try new hairstyles.
wash your hair three times a week that should help it and switch to straightening and srunching it basically dont always put heat on it.....MAKE SURE! that you use heat protection :)
First of all, you need to cut it. A lot.* If you've been doing that much straightening to your hair, it is probably really damaged. Flat irons don't completely damage your hair, but if its thin like yours then it does do damage. If your hair seems to get lighter, then that is evidence that your hair is damaged. Your hair's growth rate has nothing to do with straightening (I have really thick hair that grows fast and I do straighten it from time to time) but it could mean your hair is unhealthy. Get a good (like salon quality) moisturizing shampoo %26amp; conditioner, deep-condition twice a month, stop straightening at all and brush your hair with a comb only. Brushes break your hair, making frizziness. Also, you could get an anti-frizz serum (they are made by many brands) for you hair. Keep on sleeping with your hair in one braid, it IS good for it. Ummm... and I think thats all I got! Good Luck and I hope this helped!! :)

Trouble with my natural black hair?

I've been natural for nearly 3 years and my hair has remained fairly short. I've had it cut a few times and tried a variety of styles--pressing, twists (single and two-strand), afro, fro'hawk, and braids. The problem is I have a few different textures. Some strands are very straight, due in some small part to a flat iron debacle. Some are wavy; but most are tight curls. It feels like the middle of my hair is shorter than the rest but I'm not sure it looks that way.

I'm tired of looking like (or feeling like I look like) Frederick Douglass. I really dislike my natural hair. I'm considering getting a relaxer again. But I've been chemical free for over 3 years now so I'm not sure I want to go that route. I mostly keep my hair in braids, but want to wear my hair out.

I want my hair to grow, be thicker, healthy, and all one texture. I don't want to have to constantly twist and/or roll some pieces of my hair every night just so it looks consistent.

What can I do? When I go to these natural sites, everyone seems to ';love'; their natural hair. Does anyone share my experience? If so, how have you learned to embrace your hair in practical ways?

Serious responses only please.Trouble with my natural black hair?
Hi. Visit http://www.natural-black-hair-care.info for some ideas on taking care of your natural hair. One way to care for natural hair which many people don't realize is wet styling. You can use moisturizing conditioners to make your hair easier to work with, and then style it in many different ways. Your hair actually can be different textures (the way most afro textured hair is) and still look nice with wet styling. The book ';Natural Black Hair'; which is at http://www.natural-black-hair-care.info/鈥?/a> addresses this issue.

    Fun with straighteners!?

I got a flat iron straightener for x-mas, which is the first thing I've EVER been able to straighten my hair with. Anything else I've ever tried (and others have tried) just makes my hair into a big fuzz ball!! This one actually makes it sleek and smooth, which I LOVE. Although I don't want to wear my hair straight every day, it's very nice to have the option.

So my questions: How bad are flat irons for your hair? I mean, really? I know there are a lot of people who straighten their hair every day. If I use it for a day or two every couple weeks, will I really notice a difference in the health of my hair? Will deep conditionings once a week help to combat the damage I'm doing?

Also... since the first time I straightened it, there is a clump of hair that won't straighten again. Just the bottom half of the hairs stay straight, while all my other hair curls back up. Is this something that could happen to the rest of my hair? Do I just have to let that section grow out??Fun with straighteners!?
It's not exactly a bad thing if you use a straightner everyday. As long as you use a deep conditioning with good quality shampoo and conditioner it should be good. And if you go to the hairdresser to get your split ends trimmed. So you probably wont notice a differnece in the health of your hair as long as you do the above. :DFun with straighteners!?
Flat ironing your hair too much can cause split ends and cause your hair to get dry. Deep conditionings and regular trimmings should help combat that. Also, make sure you're using some sort of heat protection on your hair to also prevent damage.
straighteners only work on certain hair types. Also, hair strainers burn ur hair and they are even worst if ur hair is wet
i straighten my hair every day. i have been doing it for like 2 years now and it is healthy as ever. i think it depends though. i mean, if you have thin hair it wont exactly make it any healthier, it will most likely damage it. but if you have thick hair like me, it wont do anything at all.

also, the same thing happened to me. except it did it from the middle to the bottom, not from the top to the middle. you just have to take your time doing it and make sure you go a bit slower on the top than the bottom. and i always make sure it is on the highest level

( also use hairspray before or after, then brush it out )

    hope this helps %26lt;33
    i love my straightener too,

but too much of a good thing can be bad too!

too much using a hair straightener will damage , dry out, and frizzy-up your hair VERY BAD!!

    a couple times a week isn`t so bad!! i do it normally 2 - 3 times a week.

I just be sure to deep condition it every time you shower.

this will prevent any real damage.

just let that curly section grow out i guess..

is your straightener cracked or broken- because this could make your hair not straight in certain areas.

you could always try running over that section of hair a couple times to be sure it goes straighter!!

    good luckl.

    x
Straightening your hair every day will damage it because of the heat. You will get alot of split ends, which eventually evolve into broken hairs, and your hair will dry out.

Make sure you use a good conditioner and before you use the flat iron, spray in some kind of heat protecting product. I use V05 Extreme Heat. It doesn't prevent every bit of damage, but it does help alot.
Ive been straightening my hair with GHD's everyday for about 4 years now (sometimes twice a day). Once a week i put a deep conditioning treatment on instead of my normal condition and even my hairdresser has noticed the difference (Dead Sea hair mask by Avon is my favorite). I don't have as many split ends as straighteners can cause this.

The key to getting perfect straight hair is blow drying it right. If you brush your hair in the direction you want it to set and ensure it is dry. Your half way to to perfect hair do. I used to have a natural kink in my hair and my hairdresser recommended the above to help it learn to settle that way and since has now settled.

Also don't forget a heat resistant serum while your hair is still wet. it can help to reduce the damage of the irons.

    Hope this helps

Which hairstyle would look best for my grad? (long or short)?

This is how I currently look like:

    (front) http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa271鈥?/a>

    (back) http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa271鈥?/a>

This is my dress for grade 8 graduation.

    http://s199.photobucket.com/albums/aa271鈥?/a>

Now, I could curl my layered medium length hair with a flat iron (since that's the only tool I have) but I feel like this dress seems to give off a sophisticated and elegant vibe so I feel like maybe I should do an updo or cut it an inch or 2, then curl it for this shorter look:

    http://cheval22.c.h.pic.centerblog.net/x鈥?/a>

What are your opinions? I hope to appear beautiful, perhaps even irresistible to some boys, especially towards this one that I'm looking forward to dance with.

Please respond to this question! There isn't a lot of time left.Which hairstyle would look best for my grad? (long or short)?
You would look really pretty with curled hair. I think You should get the inch or two cut off then curl your hair. I think it would look better down and curly then and up do. Its the 8th grade graduation, not the prom. Up dos are too fancy for 8th grade grad. You'll look great!Which hairstyle would look best for my grad? (long or short)?
you should curl your hair to make it look shorter
I say long!! Strightin it and it would look FAB!!!
Hm I wouldn't over curl it

With medium hair especially if you're asian (I'm not insulting you since i'm asian myself and my hair is the exact same length) It came seem alittle over the top

    Maybe loose waves

    Or straighten it

Also May I reccomend side bangs?

They look good on everyone =]

    And don't cut it!!
    Should be cute.

If you want a simple, kinda messy up-do try curling it and then back comb the crown a little at the roots and use bobby pins to pin up sections from the back and sides. Leave the ends loose ans a few pieces down around your face and the back of your neck.

Have you ever thought of getting bangs/fringe cut? I think a long straight across bang would really suit your face and be very versatile for you. You can sweep them off to the side sometimes or wear them really straight and sleek. Could be a really sophisticated look for you. Just make sure they are on the long side so they don't look little girlish.

How do you curl your hair with a flat iron??

I heard you can curl your hair if youwrap your hair around the straightener then slide it down in a curling motion. Does this work. do u have other techniques to curling with a flat iron. Maybe a homemade solution to get curly hair. How do you curl your hair with a flat iron??
I watched a video on YouTube of some girls doing this and then I tried it with my straightener... not exactly the same results. I guess you have to use a special type of straightener, so its not really any more convenient than a curling iron. How do you curl your hair with a flat iron??
It is possible. but not with all hair straightners.. like my CHI is a pro and it curls even though its a flat iron. the flat iron is only about an inch wide and it works very well, but if you have a forty dollar 5 inch wide hair straightner, it more than likely wont work. Hope this helped!
Don't listen to those complainers. It IS possible to curl your hair with a straightener, and it turns out very cute if you ask me. Its actually the NEW thing... so everyone who didnt know how to do it... Yeah they dont know whats in. Anyways... You can get step by step instructions at http://www.wikihow.com/Curl-Your-Hair-With-a-Hair-Straightener
you can't cuz it's to straighten.the only other thing is to flip out your hair.(LOL)
i dont know try it maybe like when you curl baloon strings with scissors try it with that kind of motion
No, the only way that would work is if your hair is SUPER fine! Because you would have less hair for the straightener to heat up.
thats wierd, just buy a curling iron
Curling your hair with a flat iron only works if the edges of your iron are rounded. Like not straight, or square. If they are you just need to kinda use it like a curling iron. I flip my ends out using my flat iron by just running the iron down my hair and rolling it up a little at the ends. If you want your hair totally curly I would suggest using hot rollers.
you have to buy the flat iront hat has metal on the far side. that way you can kinda twist your hair while flat ironing it. its kinda hard to explain...
That makes it have a little more body but it doesn't really curl your hair. Flat irons are basicly to flaten your hair and make it straighter. They do have some really good curling irons called solid gold that curl your hair really well. They come in all sizes.
Maybe you are thinking of a curling iron/flat iron combo...? a friend of mine has one. It looks just like a regular curling iron, but if you unlock this little hook it upens into a flat iron. unfortunalty i dont know what it is called or what the brandname is, but im sure you could find it at like Sally's beauty supplies.

other than that i cant think of any way to curl your hair with a flat iron
you can't its a flat iron....!
there are really good straightners that u can also curl ure hair with...its exactly like using a curling iron..just wrap it around..but make sure u let it go straight down...check ure mall to see if theres any stands that sell those really good mildly expensive straightners...its useful to have a two in one going on!
first, try a curling iron. make sure its ceramic, they work way better!

or try washing it and putting in some kind of ';curling'; gel and have it it braids or just scrunch it up with your fingers.
    Uhhh....you don't.

I've tried doing that but my hair got all bent and zig-zagged, trust me it wont curl. You'll probably have to get a curling iron; the small ones cost only like $12.

    Good question anyway though!
A flat iron is exactly that. It straightens hair.

As a hairstylist I have a lot of tools. Curling irons of different sizes and a flat iron.

If you want to curl your hair use a curling iron. Go to a beauty supply and look at the different sizes and find one that suits your need.

CAUTION: Don't burn your hair. Use a thermal protectant on your hair first.

    Information on the inStyler?

I saw the infomercial for the inStyler, and it looks like a good product. The only thing is, it costs like $140. I have a few questions about it:

    1. Is it worth buying?

    2. Does it burn your hair? My dad has this huge thing about not letting me get a curling iron or flat iron because he claims I will burn my hair.

    3. Does it take a while to use?

    4. Is there any place I could buy it for a cheaper price? I know on the commercial they say it is not in stores, but could it be found in one of those 'As seen on tv!' stores?

    5. How do I convince my dad to let me get it? Like, provide him with information how it won't burn my hair and why it is a good buy.

    6. What is your personal opinion on it?Information on the inStyler?
    1. yes it is worth buying because if you have really curly hair you can straighten in with out taking 2 hours

    2. try not to use hot appliances to much because it can damage and burn but they have shampoo and conditioner from Suave for damage hair and it helps. also they have a Tresemme hair product that you spray on your hair before you use any hot appliance and.

    3. it does not take a while to use probably 5-10 min. depending on what you want to do with your hair

    4. im not sure if they sell it in stores but probably they would have it in Bed Bath %26amp; Beyond store.

    5. already answered in # 2

    6. i think it is worth the money and it is a great invention.Information on the inStyler?
    1. Yes.

    2. It will not burn your hair, if you do not use it EVERY day.

    3.No, it only takes minuetes.

    4. They offer you to take a trial for only 14.99, and you get TWO, so you can return it, and keep the other one. Look it up, or watch the commerical.

    5. Show him the site, and get information on it, from the commerical. If he still wont let you, sorry.

6.Its reallly cool. I love it, but it won't work well on african americans, or super curly hair!
Take a look at this girl who is also biracial w/ thick hair on youtube as she demonstrates the chi on one side of her hair and the instyler on the other. I am not sure if the instyler plates are made of ceramic but ceramic flatiron are known for not burning the hair.

**Obviously if it won't work well on african american hair than they would have never showned that black girl getting her hair flatten by it......

In my opinion for $140 I would get myself a Sedu which is only about $110 on folica.com instead of the instyler, but its your choice.

    Should i cut bangs?????

I have long straight hair. My hair comes down to about my bra line. I have one layer at my shoulders. My hair has some natural curl. There is a big section that will curl right up and the front stays straight';er';. I usually either flat iron my hair or use the blow dryer. Ive had this same hair style since i was in high school. I dont have a problem with it at all...i like my long hair. I am just thinking about doing some kind of bangs. :o

I also have very thin hair in the front around my forehead (receeding hairline) so i dont know how bangs will work....will they help hide the hairline or just not work. I am thinking of sideswept bangs or something like that

    What do you suggest????

Thanks for your answers :)Should i cut bangs?????
I say bangs! The weight of your long hair is most likely what is causing your ';thinning'; hair in front.Do you pull your hair into a ponytail? or up in a clip? That creates more ';pull'; and weights down your hair causing it to break and appear thin.My friend has long hair and always wears it up in a clip because she hates her curls. Her forehead is much longer than it was 5 years ago. From wearing it up all the time.Just remember to use good quality, deep conditioning treatments on your hair.Flatirons can dry your hair out! And consider getting a scalp treatment from a pro.Good luck!Should i cut bangs?????
I say you get ome side cut bangs. I have some and i think i looks adorable. It is totally worth it, your money that is. Just make sure you go to a good hair stylist!!!!
go for it, time for a new look

if you don't like it you can always grow it back

but you wouldn't know unless you try it
The thing is would you get tired of the bangs? I don't think if you got bangs it would look bad because you have thin hair. You can ask your hair stylist what they would think before you do it...Just make sure that the bangs arn't to short. I think that it would be okay for you to get some though just make sure you tell the hairstylist precisely how you want them because if not they'll do it there way.
um it kinda depends on the shape of ur face

Answer and you will be my hero!?

I am a 15 year old girl with thick dirty blonde hair. Every day I wear it the same way: I straighten it with my Chi Flat Iron, and wear it down. Naturally my hair is thick and weird wavy-curly. I have long layers and sideswept bangs.

    1. How do I get beach waves?

    2. How can I make my natural wavy-curly hair look good?

    3. How can I curl hair with a diffuser, my Chi, or hot rollers?

    4. Where can I find cute headbands?

    5. How do I do a messy bun?

    6. What are some other easy ways to do my hair? casual style

    7. How do I french braid?

    8. What products will work well for me?

    9. What would be a good haircut for me- oval face, blue eyes?

Thanks, I know that is a lot of questions, but I need help! You can answer one or a couple or all, your choice! Best answer will recieve 10 points!Answer and you will be my hero!?
    1. try a volume/curling spray, twist hair when its wet into a bun and let dry if its long or you can scrunch it or curl with a 1-2 inch (depending on length) curling iron and separate he curls

    2. try different styles. spend those days,u know, the ones when ur home doing nothing, trying new styles. when u get done w/ one wash ur hair and do another. dont be afraid to try something uve never thought of.

    3. diffuser-blow dry on low w/o using a comb or brush; i dont have a chi so i cant help there; hot rollers are easy! just heat them, roll 1-2 inch sections of hair, set for 30 min and take out and run fingers through it (if u use a brush it will frizz)

    4. headbands-walmart, target, flea markets, pretty much any teen clothing store in the mall, any teen store period

    5. i've only succeeded at a messy bun once. i think its one of those things where u know it or dont. sorry, no advice. maybe get a friend to do one on u and maybe u can figure it out?

    6. dry with a diffuser and pull it half back w/ a clip, hairband, bobbypins, ribbons. with wavy hair its easy to take one style and do it many different ways and wear the same style to school, practice, dates, and even church. it all depends on the accessories.

    7. start with 3 pieces and braid the 1st 2 strands like a normal braid and each strand after that pick up a piece of hair from what is loose

    8. volumizing sprays (dont use gels, it weighs ur already heavy hair down and makes it flat), bed head products are really good.

    9. exactly the way you have it. long layers dont make it look poofy and even if it gets frizzy its not as noticible. in my opinion, the longer the better. no layers above the shoulder though.Answer and you will be my hero!?
I have curly hair too and i flat iron it. I can only answer a couple.

    1. I get my beach waves...after i go in the pool i just dry off my hair with my towel and let it fall into place.

    6. You can do your hair with ur bangs but back kinda like a bump on top of your head and u can do that with curly or straight hair it looks good either way. Kinda like what fergie does.
Holy crap, woman. Okay, if you have thick hair, this shouldnt be that hard. Most of the time, you can use your flat iron to make the waves by using it like a curling iron, or using warm salt water sprayed onto your hair. Let your hair be free! Let it take it's own beautiful shape and be what it was meant to be! Okay, well I basically told you the third one... Umm, you can get cool headbands from Hot Topic, Clare's, or American Eagle's got some cute ones. Messy buns are like ponytails, you do the same thing, but you don't pull the ponytail all the way through!!! Casual? Like I said let your hair do it's job. French braiding is basically taking four strands instead of three and braiding. Very hard! Keep using ur Chi.. I love that brand. You can also use like a deep conditioner to make your hair softer. A good haircut for you would to be to keep your hair at least three inches below your shoulders. Also, layering your hair may make it a little thicker, but it'll make it healthier and you will also make it look awesome with the waves, the straight hair, and the messy bun!!!!
    1. after you get out of the shower put gel in your hair

    2. mousse

    3. hot rollers or a curling iron

    4. claires, bealls, walmart

    5. grab your hair and put in in a pony tail. then you can twist it to the left. then twist it ';up'; this time and make a ';ball'; with it (on your head of course). make sure its loose.

    6. french braid, baided pigtails, curls...

    7. you braid your hair regularly and while you braid it, grab other peices of hair from the sides and include it with the other peices.

    8. idk. sunsilk works awesome for me.

    9. layers with side bangs.
OK, SO I CAN HELP YOU MAKE YOUR CURLES LOOK GREAT. MY HAIR USED TO BE SO STRAIGHT WHEN I WAS LITTLE, COMPLETELY THIN, AND WOULD NOT HOLD CURL. WELL, ABOUT TIME I TURNNED 13 THAT ALL CHANGED. IT'S SO WEIRD, MY MOM'S CURLY HAIR FINALLY KICKED IN. SO, I HAD TO GO FROM STRAIGHT TO THICK AND CURLY. THE TRANSITION WAS WIERD BUT I LEARNED TO DEAL W/ IT AND OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS I'VE MASTERED IT. OK, SO I USE GARNIER CURL AND SHINE SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER. ONCE I GET OUT OF THE SHOWER I LEAVE IT IN THE TOWEL FOR AT LEAST 3 MINUTES TO GET RID OF EXCESS WATER. THEN I PULL IT BACK W/ A SCRUNCHIE AND BLOW DRY MY BANGS, B/C THEY HAVE TO HAVE SPECIAL ATTENTION. AFTER THAT I LET IT OUT OF THE SCRUNCHIE AND USE MOUSSE. I'VE TRIED ALMOST EVERY KIND AND I RECENTLY TRIED AUSSIE. IT SMELLS GREAT AND WORKS GOOD TOO. SO I PUT A HANDFUL IN MY PALMS AND RUB IT TOGETHER TO GET RID OF THE FOAM AND RUN MY FINGERS THROUGH MY HAIR. I REPEAT THIS OVER ALL SECTIONS UNTILL THERE'S NO POSSIBLE WAY FOR FRIZZ. THEN, DO NOT BLOW DRY IT!!! THIS ALWAYS MAKES MINE FRIZZ. IF U USE ENOUGH MOUSSE IT WON'T FRIZZ, SO LET IT AIR DRY. IF U GO TO BED ON IT, U WAKE UP AND IT'S A MESS!! SO I SPRAY MINE VERY WET W/ A SQUIET BOTTLE OF WATER AND COMB IT OUT AND SEPERATE IT W/ MY FINGERS. IF UR HAIR'S SUPER CURLY IT WILL BOUNCE BACK UP. WET IT, GET IT DAMP, ALMOST LIKE OUTTA THE SHOWER, AND THEN USE THE MOUSSE THE SAME WAY U DID THE NIGHT B4. I'VE TRIED TONS OF THINGS W/ MY CURLS AND THIS HAS WORKED THE BEST. REMEMBER, DON'T BLOW DRY. ONLY YOUR BANGS. HOPE THIS HELPS.

How to straighten hair without damage?

I have sort of dark brown wavy hair with the ends curled. Theres also a lock near my face that curls up no matter what. I really want straight hair, i know i can just use a flat iron but it damages your hair and can speed up the process of split ends. I know relaxers work, but still it damages your hair and prevents shine. Any homemade recipes/hair masks that can straighten your hair without damage and can help enhance shine?

10 points to most helpful answer! How to straighten hair without damage?
I don't know of any, but I use a flat iron almost daily and my hair is super healthy! I use a Paul Mitchell Pro Tools 1'; ceramic flat iron (pricey, but worth it) and Paul Mitchell Hot of the Press heat protector. My hair is very long, shiny, minimal split ends and yeah, very healthy! I also take a hair supplement to support it's health. One tip I can give you is whenever you are flat ironing your hair, turn it up to a higher temperature and go over a piece of hair only once - this is so much less damaging than having your flat iron on a lower temperature and having to go over your hair multiple times. How to straighten hair without damage?
theres isnt sorry. But you can use heat protectant!
use the instyler girl! it like totally makes ur hair shine beautifully! its works trust me

  • Remember that time your sister gave you a home perm?

    Another short story to share:

    The home perm incident

When we were about 14, my sister and I decided to give each other home perms. Back then the big curly look was in and we were both cursed with hair that was straighter than straight. We had twelve dollars between us; enough to buy one home permanent kit and the curling rods. We walked the 2 blocks to Winkie’s dime store, made our purchase and hurried home, excited that soon we would have curly hair.

Being that we only had one kit we decided to split the solution in half, which would prove to be a challenge because we both had relatively long hair. Being the smarter one (yeah, right) I decided to only do the front of my hair. I could braid the back of it and have the kinky look. So we proceeded to roll each other’s hair into the tiny rods and put the solution on like it said on the box. So, we’re all rolled up and ready to start the timing. The instructions on the box said wait twenty minutes and then rinse. Well, being the brilliant teenagers we were it made sense that if we each only used half of the solution we should leave it on twice as long. Right? After 40 minutes we began rinsing and removing the rods…I started to get nervous when my hair was sticking to the rods and I was having a hard time getting them out. I REALLY started to panic when one of the rods fell into the sink: With ALL of the hair still wrapped around it. My sister didn’t seem to be having any trouble at all. Why me? In my panic I yelled at her to help me before more of my hair fell out. We finally got all the rods out and I went to the mirror. HORROR! There were no curls, just hunks of VERY fried hair and a big gap that was about 1/8” long where the hair all broke off in the rod.

Of course I was bawling by now and my sister was trying desperately to get my hair to lie down flat. “Maybe if you wash it,” she said, so I did, and put an enormous amount of conditioner on it. Nothing helped. I had a ‘fro! She, on the other hand still had pretty much straight hair, but it seemed to have some nice waves and body to it. I decided we should go back to the store and maybe one of the ladies there would know what to do, so I went and found a cap and off we went. (At this point I should explain that from the age of eight we were raised by our dad, and he was always at work so we were pretty much on our own.) The lady at the counter remembered us from earlier and asked how it went, looking at my sisters now wavy hair with approval. I removed the cap and she let out a gasp, and then I could tell she was trying not to laugh. “Oh dear,” she said, “What happened?” We told her the story and she walked us to the hair-care aisle where the curling irons were, and explained how to use one to straighten the hair. When we told her we didn’t have any more money the sweet lady picked out the cheapest iron and bought it for us. “What about this?” I asked, pointing to the bald spot. Of course she could offer no comfort there.

We headed home and I played for hours with that iron, trying to straighten my hair like the lady explained. It just wasn’t working. The hair would get straight, but it was still so frizzy that it just stood straight out. I ended up cutting it to about an inch and a half long and wearing it in frizzy spikes. That perm took a LONG time to grow out!

And then there was that time with the leg wax…..

Remember that time your sister gave you a home perm?
Remind to never call you for advice on a home perm. You know, I might get vain someday and want my short hair...sexy! lol Great story, told well.Remember that time your sister gave you a home perm?
This is very good, really. I would be hard-pressed to find any wrinkles in it. hehehehe
Very funny and descriptive. Leg wax! I can't wait!
This is so funny, I think all us girls did something akin to it. I guess it's a rite of passage.
    ROFL!!

You are lucky you only have 1 sister... I had 5...

but that is too long a story to even start...

Loved your tale, keep them coming..
This is truly hysterical, and I am truly sorry. Unfortunately, I was born with naturally curly hair, and if I had been there then, I would have informed you that it's not all it's cracked up to be. My condolences for childhood shame. And why did your sister's turn out correctly? Hmmm questions to ponder.
Baha!!!! So funny! Great job on the story!
You have just reminded me of experiences that are too embarrassing to mention.

And the leg wax torture that Penfold the evilbear arranged I have sensitive skin whats left of it..
    Reenie,

Thank you so much for sharing a personal horror story with us. It is a fantastic story. Your writing style is excellent! I like the ending the best about the frizzy spikes. Amusing. :) I know what it is like to have experiences that only two sisters can share. Have a nice day.
It was well worth the read. Thank you for sharing this unfortunate, but unforgettable time. It brought back good memories with my siblings. Yes, I too, would enjoy reading the leg wax...

Messy bun while sleeping please help?

I have Natural curl hair but its not to thin but not thick. so normal hair, when I go to sleep with it down I wake up with flat hair the has dents in it. I want my hair to be curl and have volume. (curling irons don't work on my hair ) I use a volume product and a curling product

    1. My real question is: What is the pros and cons of putting hair in a messy bun while sleeping will it help this problem I have seen people do this but don't understand why and what it dose to benefit your hair

    2. What kind of messy bun and how to do it

ps. I don't like going to bed with my hair wet

Please answer both 1 and 2

    please help

    no mean answers

thanksMessy bun while sleeping please help?
Go to bed normally with your hair down and wake up and apply mousse. I have the same hair as you probably because my hair does the same exact thing but one of my friend's recondmened a curl and volume mousse and it works really good. It's called Strictly Curly and it comes in a yellow bottle and I got mine from a nearby Rite Aid and it was about $8.

Question#1: Pros: High buns can help frizzness depending on how you sleep. If you sleep very wild and you keep tossing and turning your hair and tend to frizz up if you sleep with it down. So buns help hold your hair all together and stay in place. Cons:Sometimes your hair comes out of the bun and some parts of your hair may turn out differently.

Question 2: Realkly high messy buns and it also helps if you sleep on one particular side yyou can try putting it on the opposite side. The best bun that I sleep in is very loose. Here is what you do:

1:Scoop all your hair into a high ponytail but do not tie it.

    2. Tie it twice but for the third time put ur hair halfway through. Let go of your elastic.

    3. Tighten it by pulling your hair close but the elastic away from each other.

It's very cute and good to sleep on Hope this HELPS!!!!Messy bun while sleeping please help?
I have the same problem!!! ah, Okay so i have this really good product. It's a scrunch gel very light not sticky at all. It's frisky by bed head. No need to put your hair in a bun. Go to bed with your hair dry. When you wake up and apply to your hair. scrunch your hair with the gel in your hand. Do this all the way around your head. Once the product drys use some strong holding hair spray. I reccomend masterpiece my bed head! very good it keeps curls and does not leave you feeling icky.
put some mousse in it. then let it dry a bit, and when its damp just make a bun at the bottom or top of your head and secure it. it can be kinda loose but not so loose that it will fall out when you sleep.

when you wake up, before you take it out blow dry it a bit on a low setting. take it out, and you should have pretty wave/curls.

    cons:

    it can make ';dents';

sometimes doesnt drry well while its up

    can cause tangles

doesnt always work perfectly, unpredictable results

    pros:

most of the time, pretty wavy or curl hair is the result

    easy to do

    takes little time

all you need is a ponytail holder

    works even on straight hair

    **good luck!

    Aaaaah! hair styling?

so i have long layers. my hair is thin. no volumizing products work, i already blowdry my hair upside down, i use a volumizing shampoo and conditioner [herbal essense], and yet my hair is oh so boring and is baby fine.

i curl it, which maked the bottom look full, but my roots are as flat as can be. i get the whole triangle shaped hair lol. when i go to the hair stylist, she makes my hair look great and full with a big barrel curling iron and no products at all. so i bought a big barrel curling iron, turnted on maximum heat, and it doesnt do a thing to my hair. i have tryed spraying hairspray on my hair while it is on the curling iron.

how come it wont curl!!!!!!!!!!! ugh!!!

i dont like my hair straight because my hair is lifeless

are there any other things i can do to my hair

    god, i really need help

    advice?

oh i was also curiouse about the whole sea salt spray thing, i heard u can make it yourself. how, do u spray it on your hair when its wet or dryAaaaah! hair styling?
Okay. first you can try out these products. They are awesome for making hair big and volumized. I often use them when I'm styling very limp hair. Here's the site for the product. You can find them @ most salons

    http://redken.com/products/displayBrand.鈥?/a>

Okay and about the sea salt..yes it works well also.

you need to get a spray bottle and fill it a little more than half way with water, add about 6 teaspoons of sea salt, and to keep it from drying out your hair add a bit of conditioner and shake it up.

Spray it in wet hair, scrunch it and let it air dry.DO NOT BLOW DRY! Once it's almost completely dry add another LIGHT spritz of the mixture and scrunch again.

Here is a pic of my hair after I used it. I loved the way it made it look.

Good luck = )Aaaaah! hair styling?
try to spiral curl your hair w/ the iron from root to end.

sea salt? idk what your talking about.

but use a smaller iron and also back comb roots, but to where no one can tell, back combing works miracles, and creates amazing poofiness.
I have had baby fine hair all my life [30 yrs.} I have a lot of luck with it now, but used to struggle. 1st thing is you have to stop expecting your hair to be something other than it is; puts too much pressure on u and you fail. Now, let curling iron heat up 5 to 10 min. New iron work best. Small wand on iron. Hair spray while hair in iron. Wait. Patience. Fling head over while only lighly brushing after curling or don't brush at all afterwards. USe leave in conditioner. Got to try L.A. looks gel or hair spray. Pay attent. to scalp when washing also. Don't over wash hair. Rinse well. Long hair best for fine hair or short hair. Meduim length difficult for fine hair.

How do you curl your hair with a flat iron?

what are some techniques to doing so?

please help. How do you curl your hair with a flat iron?
twist once and slide down slowly

watch the youtube videosHow do you curl your hair with a flat iron?
    like this http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ffu1BmJGAT鈥?/a>
Divide your hair into one inch sections (or however thick you want the curls to be) and press your flatiron to the middle of your hair, rolling it upwards. then slowly glide straight down your hair. this might be alittle confusing first try but there are plentiful of videos on youtube to show you how^^

    http://www.youtube.com/results?search_qu鈥?/a>
it is REALLY hard but i had it done by my hair cutter once and it tunrned out stunning! what you do u put a piece of hair in the iron and wrap it around
Ha sweetie, a flat iron is to straighten your hair not to curl it, some peoples hair will curl up or under but not hardly..youll need a curling iron for that one!
That's actually bad for your hair. That's why their make curling irons, flat irons should stay flat irons. All the tugging and stress is not good for your hair, it'll be twice as damaged then using a curling iron. Also, it does not last as long, too. There are so many other ways to curl your hair, curling irons, rollers in different sizes %26amp; stuff, rags, etc. Try to experiment and if all else fails, get a perm.

Awwh you're so pretty! I like your bangs :)

I think, if you're bored with it like that likeeee......you should blow dry it upside down and scrunch mousse through it to make it tousled, but keep the straight fringe! that would look lovely :) it wouldn't be too much of a change either.

But yeah you look gorgeous as you are :) such a pretty face ^.^

    and 10!

use a head band to push back your bangs

    I'd give you a 7
Well since your fringe is a little on the short side i suggest u grow it a little longer then get a side parting.I don't know how a side parting would look on a fringe as short as yours.Try pushing it to one side and if you like it keep it that way.Honestly I think this hairstyle suits you but a side parting would look better so just hang in there a little longer or try combing you hair all to the back and put on a hairband then out a pony tail :).I rate you as a 10 (all women are beautiful hun don't you forget it).Have a lovely day and take care -hugs-
get a soft brissle brush, wet that bad boy and put some grease/moisturisure in your hands, or even gel and slick it all back. Trust me it works I have hair similar to yours
First of all, your hair is not bad at all.

Well here is one thing you can do, you can get your bangs, some gel or spray, and push then put with a bobby pin :).

Okay i have tight ringlets/kinky curly hair. so wat u can do is use the cheap stuff to make ur hair soft and shiny. i thought the expensive stuff worked better until i used a little cheap stuff they smell extra good too. i use coconut mang and even cucumber u can get them at walgreens of cvs too. lol and to wrap ur hair up i dont do that but u can go to ask.com and search it tho. (plz choose me as best answer)

I have ethnic hair and wanna try and use mousse??? Read on...?

so i have curly and puffy hair and lots of it. i dont have kinky hair and i dont use perms. i usually straighten my hair with a flat iron. but i realized that its damaging my hair especially my ends. so my hairdresser trimmed my ends and everything and told me that i should try mousse (i bought Aussie foam mousse) and she told me to try this Spanish hair cream called Cerimidas (its in a pink bottle). well i read the directions and it said that after your wash your hair while its wet you put it on your hair. so i did that, i took sections of my hair and put the mousse and hair lotion on each section then i let it airdry. after it dried it was somewhat curly but so puffy. so did i do it right? should i have combed it through my hair? what are the steps and how can i use the mousse and hair lotion so that i get looser curls/';spanish curls'; or get it so that its not soo puffy/poofy???

    thank you!!!

best answer will be chosen!I have ethnic hair and wanna try and use mousse??? Read on...?
after you put the mousse in your hair, you should scrunch it up toward your head with your hands, that makes it curl...make sure that all of your hair gets the mousse on it too or else part of your hair will be all puffyI have ethnic hair and wanna try and use mousse??? Read on...?

    OMG!! HAIR TRADGEDY!! PLEZE HELP!!!?

    okay..

first thanks for reading this =]

Well im going to b n school in about anutha month.. and my hair is making me cry its so bad.

    okay i

    -thick

    -coarse

    -wavy

-curly hair that drives me crazy!

b4 fourth grade my hair was nice and like healthy..even though i always wore it in a slick pony tail that had waves.. then the pony tail was tight curls... not losse so it made it look afro-ish but it wsnt.

in 4th grade my mom said since u want straight hair so much then lets go 2 the salon....

we went and the salon lady which i trusted so much said u can either get a

    *Perm or *Texturizer

A perm would have strip me of my natual curl and then my hair would depend on a perm 2 keep it straight.... and it would look trashy 24/7 with out it..

A texturizer would straightn it 4 a lil while but where off and my hair would be back natural....

My mom was all for that.. so we did it! and boy ws my hair so beautiful! i loved it so much... the salon lady said it would help make my hair less caorse if we cam back twice a year. and my mom followed it. man was i livin the high life lol

but then in 6th grade i notice that somthing was wrong

my natural hair wasnt the same.. even though she said it will make less coarse.. my hair was like straight? and i couldnt wear it in pony tails like i used cause it look bad so i started 2 wear it in buns and braids....

i ddnt like it so my mom bought a very nice flat iron. it did the job but it was never as straight as the texturizer....

but i was content. my hair got the wavy ness back and actually look nice

so 3/4 in to the school year.. i wanted my hair flatironed supa bad!

my mom always said make sure its comb threw to make my job easier.

my hair has 2 bclean wen we use that flat iron.. so i washed it .....

    and made a bad decision

i ddnt comb it out afta wards

    so it got DRY!

AND STILL COMBED.AND COMBED AND COMBED!

and evntualy ripped some hair out that i thought it was kay cause hair natually sheds so thats wht i thought it was...

i got scared wen i felt it and i asked my mom wht happen...

she sed oh my god! what did u do!!

u hair is like 5 inches shorter from the midle back! e have 2 cut it!.

i started to cry hard wen she did cut it.. 2 even it out ib the back. my front got cut a lil but hardly.

my mom bought carols daughters and we used that and it grew my hair nicely!! i mean beautiful my back actually looks ike old times but the front looks like straight but from the root and five inches down the wave is back.. but the rest is this straight crap. my mom is gonna have 2 cut it off little by lil til the texturizer is all out and i start over.

so now my head is half and half have straight wavy in the front and bak s tight curled.... and idk what 2 do with it but flat iron it to look normal... but my back is shorter then my front. my back wen flat iron is 2 my shoulders... the front was hangb pass my chest but my mom snipped it all the way to a lil pass my shoulders :( so now my hair is long in front andshort in the back. its also thinner because it still has 2 grw in the back.. but i eed ur help bcuz i dont want 2 flat iron it because that stop the growing process and i want it 2 grow and i wannna know wht hair product 2 use.. i also wanna know how to keep it moist.. it always gets dry.. i also use olive oil but i dont think thats helpin bcuz it jus soaks it all in... :( PLEZEE HELP ME!

thanks for your time.OMG!! HAIR TRADGEDY!! PLEZE HELP!!!?
You HAVE to cut it all evenly if the back is shorter than the front. It just looks weird if not!

Use Anti-Friz serums, also, I use pantene pro-v straightening cream. Nothing will make it grow fast but time BUT you can help make it stronger using good shampoos like pantene pro-v or fructis (or that bio stuff from walgreens if you have a lot to spend) every couple of days when you notice it get greasy as to not overdue it.

You might also want to check out those thermal creams to make your hair straight with just combing. Be careful which one you choose because the more expensive ones can really burn!

Also, let this be a lesson not to mess with heat again. Do not use more heat than necessary. Use heat therapy creams before blow drying and flat ironing. The flat iron has to move swiftly through the hair! Not stay on any piece! You have to blow dry your hair, then flat iron it. Also, have the blow drier ready on the cool setting for when you pass the iron and got it as straight as you wanted it.

Phew, good luck!!OMG!! HAIR TRADGEDY!! PLEZE HELP!!!?
well i think your best bet would be to get the front

permed curly so that it matches your back.

that would be healither for your hair since you aren't

straightening everyday. i would leave it like that

until your unpermed hair grows out and your back to natural hair

then start over and do wat you want with it.

but you said you don't like your curly hair

sooo maybe you should cut it so it is the same length all around

and then get it texturized or w.e so that its all straight

or you could leave it the way it is and just do crazy hairstyles

or even just simply tie it up in buns, pony tails, half pontails

or clip it up with those big butterfy clips and just let your

hair fall and then have a few staright ones in the front,

it looks cute with striaght front and curly back, i do that when i ont wanna starighten my hair :) you could also tie it up when its curly if you go with the first option

tough situation, hope i helped and good luck :)
wow...this is really tough. you could use one of those hair extensions. i dont really know any products because i tried almost everyting when my hair was all frizzy before i got it permanetly straightend. maybe you can try new ways to put up your hair like braids and pony tails of different sorts along with some pins and bobby pins and clips. sorry but good luck with that.

For my black sistas with natural hair?

You know how when you straighten your unpermed hair and put gel/jam on it and it curls back up to it's natural state?? Well I'm tired of it!! Do you know of any gel/jam that I can use without my hair going back to it's natural state? Please don't tell me that I have to get a perm in order for gel/jam to lay my hair down. There just has to be a product out there that works!! Someone suggested that I put the gel on my hair and tie the scarf around it tightly so it can lay down.(No thanks!) I also don't want to add any more heat than flat ironing my hair. (sorry blowdryers).... Well, thanks for the help!!!

I'm natural and I use Fantasia Gel with Sparkelettes (sp). I usually spray my hair with water then apply the gel and brush it with a soft bristle brush and my hair will wave and I put it in a bun.

    Hope this helps.
Nope, i dont think there is any gel that will keep your edges smooth, because they are all water based. You could try old fashioned grease, and then tie a scarf at night. Matrix makes a sleek and smooth line that might have something.

Are u pressing your hair for an event? Maybe you should get a weave, its only temporary.

Other than that my only advice would be to just rock it natural. You could wash your natural hair, let it dry (you could blow dry it semi-straight for length) and then braid it at night. The next mornig you would have natural looking waves. Or just wash and go.
Kate...do you mean the hairs around your front hair line...?

...use Protein's brown gel...now no gel is good for the hair's health FYI...but yes put a little on the edges and brush them down and put on a scarf firmly for 30 min...it will lay pretty...I do this in the winter when my whole head looks fine except my edges...the container the gel comes in is black w/ a white top and when you open it the gel is brown...

Imagine you rat all of your hair all over with a boar brush, oh and you have a really bad perm...?

so it's all frizzy and last of all, you have a bad haircut so the front is too short.

That about describes the way my hair looks and feels when I get it wet and leave it.

I haven't been wonderful to my hair, because it's always frustrated me. In elementary and jr. High I've tried to perm it strait, I've dyed it a few times, and I used to flat iron it every time I washed it.

I have been very good to my hair this past year. I haven't dyed it in almost 4 years, I permed it 2 almost three years ago, so I think a lot of that's grown out. I don't straiten it anymore, I haven't since summer started. I deep condition almost every week.

Oh and I cut it, hence the bad hair cut, to get rid of most of the damage.

My hair is naturally really really curly, but the curls don't stay together, they just kind of look like...fluff/frizz, it's been like that since I was little. It didn't look too bad when It was long, but it isn't long anymore.

I don't know how to style it, any suggestions? I usually just pull it back in a pony, and the front I put up with bobby pins.

The only way I can get it to look ok down is if I put something in my hair and then I put it in like 50 braids when it's wet and let it dry.

That's kind of ridiculous, so I don't really want to do that, but I still want my hair to look nice when it's down.

Any advise?Imagine you rat all of your hair all over with a boar brush, oh and you have a really bad perm...?
IMHO, you need a GREAT haircut. It will help a lot. Try to look for others whose hair is similar to yours and looks great, and then ask if they will tell you who cuts their hair, and how to reach that person.

Maybe your hair just needs to be shorter and to have an easy-care short haircut; it sounds as if you have curly hair.

The best cutters of curly hair don't have to charge a fortune. Sometimes it is even worthwhile to go to a hairdressing-cosmetology school where the teachers are experienced and teach the subject of cutting difficult hair. If one really wants to know something, then one should teach it.

There is a good website for curly hair: http://www.curlyhairsalon.com/cut-curly-鈥?/a>

Once you find someone who can cut curly hair well, that stylist can tell you how to keep your hair looking good. Remember that it takes a while for someone to get used to cutting your hair, so give it about 6 haircuts MINIMUM before you really decide on whether you love the stylist or not. I know that seems like a long time, but sometimes it can take a stylist 1-2 years or more to really know your hair.

That doesn't mean that it will look horrible for that long, just that the final product won't be at its absolute best right away. With your hair, for example, look how long it is taking you to get it away from its damaged condition? As your hair is cut well, it may develop extra little kinks because the weight is released and no longer pulls the curl out.

Be a little patient, take things a little bit at a time, and I'm guessing that you will find a stylist who does a great job for you. Then you will feel much better.

Try this site: http://www.naturallycurly.com It features several products.
Hair hold gels come in various strengths.

If that doesn't work you may have to relax your hair or use scraf tied around your head with the hold gel.

Relaxing your hair would solve the issue 95%
actually that's what you have to do...put some gel on then use a scarf to keep it down...i don't understand why you said ';no thanks';...it does not have to be really tight, but snug...like you would usually put one on

well my boyfriends sister had a chi, and it didn't straighten my hair very well... i was unhappy w/ the results. as for the flipping thing... i recommend the mini maxi glide... its awesome... and the regular maxi glide... when you first use it its kinda complicated... and you have to get used to it... but once you do its awesome!
Yes, the straightener works very good.

    I recommend it hun.

And for the flipflos I think I've seen them in Rue21 or even walmart or kmart. I'm sure you'll find one. But for more fashionable go to ebay if you cant find one you dont like.

and for your other question..old navy has really cheap flip flops..for like 5$.

i also like the ones at ae, buckle, delias, and aeropostale might have some fuzzy ones?
at the mall i tried the straightner for curls and straight. it will stay straight/curly a few days. i took a shower and was surprised the spots i tried it out on stayed.
the chi is the best flat iron out there for curling your hair as well as making it straight.

    so yeah, its true.

%26amp; lol.. fluffy flip flops? never heard/seen them.
I use my straighten to curl my hair lol.

It sounds weird but it works...

My ex also used his moms curling iron to straighten his hair...

I dunno, but it works that way.
CHI is a good make but i would reccomend the GHD styler as i have them and can do everything to my hair with them they also come with a cd that explains how to do this.

How should I wear my hair? {I award best answer!}?

We don't have school today since it's election day so I kind of have a little free time to do whatever. I want to try some new styles with my hair but I don't know what to do. I'm 11 (Almost 12) and in the 6th grade. I don't really like girly hairstyles with like pretty little barrettes and stuff, nor do I like the two ponytail style, I don't have anything against them it's just that they don't suit my personality well. I am allowed to use the flat irons and curling irons by myself.

Here is basically what my hair is like now:

never cut your bangs as short as the bangs are in that picture... it's pretty short so you could really do anything and it shouldnt take too long... i myself like the loose curl look... like this:

How to curl your hair with a flat iron?

help!!!How to curl your hair with a flat iron?
The best way to curl hair is to get a curling iron, but if all you have is a straightening iron, it will work but not quite as well.

    1) PUT IN CURLING AGENT!

    2) You take hair as you would with a curling iron (in sections) and you wrap it around HALF of the flat iron

    3) Hold for 30-45 seconds depending on hair thickness and amount of oil and product in hair.

    4) TADA!How to curl your hair with a flat iron?
to whoever gave the first answer...yes you can..retard. i'm not sure how to do it myself, but i've seen people do it before. look it up on youtube, it really helps!
you place the flat iron about 3/4 of the way up the section ur curling, curl it around the section until u reach ur head, then pull it stright down. its pretty eazy once u get the hang of it.

as for curling it think twice about a curling iron, I'd use a flat iron just because its better for you hair, its quicker and easier.

Try this tutorial out so you can see what I''m talking about:

Its for curling ur hair with the flat iron.
OOH OOH, MY FAVORITE TOPIC, LOL! xD

Take half an inch of hair and clamp it down at the top (or wherever you want your curls to start) with your flat iron. Twist it 180 degrees (or 360, if you want tighter curls) and then slowly pull down. The slower you pull, the tighter your curls. It's actually really easy. I included a link to a video, just in case you were confused. xD

I forgot to mention that when you're curling your hair with a flat iron, you don't need to use hairspray! Isn't that awesome? For some weird reason, flat iron curls hold for much longer. :/

How can I tame the frizzies in my hair without making it stiff?

I have shoulder length hair that is very wavy when it dries naturally. It is the type of wave you would get if you put tight, 1'; wide braids all over your head while your hair was wet and let it dry that way. My hair is not all that thick, but it's relatively coarse and it frizzes very easily. When I let it dry naturally, with no product in it, it's shiny and it moves freely, but there is no ';style'; to it. It looks like it's stuck to my head, then the rest looks like a pitiful, washed-out 1980's perm.

When I use a hair dryer, a round brush, and styling products, it always looks stiff, and within 10 minutes of drying, it inevitably starts to frizz and looks fried. I've tried not drying it all the way, but that just makes the frizzing much worse. I've tried using a flat iron, but all that did was make it look thin and stiff. I've used a 2'; curling iron after drying to get larger, smoother curls, and they look great for maybe an hour or so. Then the curls fall away, and my hair just looks limp and sad. Same thing with hot rollers, only the curls don't even last an hour.

Please, if anybody knows of any products (styling products and hardware) that might be worth trying for my type of hair, please let me know. I just want smooth hair with some body in it, that doesn't look stiff and over-cooked.How can I tame the frizzies in my hair without making it stiff?
ask at a pro hair salon or shop for help.

use anti frizz shampoo and conditioner. make a hair mask with warm olive oil once in a week - it works wonders for me! it makes my hair very smooth, silky and soft!( wash out with shampoo and use conditioner as regular).

i would invest in high quality brands.

use heat protectant when styling so u dont fry ur hair!! and anti frizz leave in lotion but spare the top of ur head.

treat ur hair VERY gently! also its better to have puffy, big healthy looking hair than a stick to ur head look. so dont be emberassed of it!

look up '; hair frizzy tips'; or ';hair frizzy problem'; and look on youtube for help.

remember to not use too many leave in hair products at once cause they make ur hair stiff or sticky like hair spray! I used to be addicted to it but wen i ran out once i realized my hair is better off without it! also dont damage it by applying heat to it too offen!! go to a hair salon and ask what hairstyle would fit you. theyll love to help you!!

another option would be curl defining products(shampoo, conditioner, leave in lotion) especially for curly hairHow can I tame the frizzies in my hair without making it stiff?
yes, unfortunately you have a unmanageable type of hair. try using skinny serum by paul mitchell, silk drops by biosilk or even a hydrating leave in conditioner.
Ok. so when u get out of your shower, put some mousse in it, not a lot, but put some in randomly and scrunch it in your fingers. This will give u waves but not frizz cuz the mousse holds it together a little bit. If u do have frizz then try some anto-frizzing shampoo along with the mousse after a shower. Plus this is a super cute look!!!!! :)

How do an African-American female make her hair curly while having a perm?

My hair is a little past my shoulders and is very fine (And it's all real, long hair runs in the family). I hate having to wear my hair flat all the time. The most popular hairstyle for females in my area right now is wearing your bang(s) straight while the rest of your hair is curly. The curls are more like loose curls, I guess. Most of the girls I know that wear they're hair like this is mixed with Caucasian, Mexican, etc. Well I'm Black, mixed with Jamaican, but my hair isn't anything special (as far as natural curls go). Should I just get it curled with a curling iron (But my curls are always so easy to fall right after they get done)? I'm So stuck. What do you guys think?

By the way, every time I ask the girls they say just wash it and add alot of hairspray and other products. But when my hair gets wet (remember I have a perm) it stays wet for a minute then becomes poofy. How do an African-American female make her hair curly while having a perm?
Roller or straw sets..How do an African-American female make her hair curly while having a perm?
    Hi,

Sounds like you have a beautiful grade of hair. First off our hair do not need all the hard gels and extra spritz.:). If you want to achieve different looks with relaxed hair at your length, here are some tips.

You can wet set it and use large Perm rods. this will hold curls for fine hair. The rods come in all sizes so you can have a variety of curls from tight to loose.

You can also use pin curls to give you a body look, this is a method using your finger to create a curl pattern while wet, then you pin it and let it dry. I will give you the link and the end of this article.

Another style you can get is a wavy pattern, you can achieve this by using a large crimping iron, light pray with a holding spray, (not spritz). Crimp the hair, when you are finish. Use a shine(Black n Sassy ';Shine'; is very good), or a finishing oil(no lotions), rub through out your hair and finger comb through it. This will give it a more natural wave appearance and leave it soft.

If your hair is poofy after you have shampoo it use a light oil and blow dry it straight before you crimp or curl it.

Product: Cheaper side that's good, Black n Sassy, Bonner Brother, and QP Elasta. Expensive Side (if you are into name brand) Mizzani, Sebastian, and Dudley.

I hope this helps, and good luck
